This Topic has been set up to follow the Autumn 2012 migration and wintering of satellite tracked ospreys, other than Caledonia and Alba from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread, Tracking Caledonia & Alba
This topic replaces Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Mar-Aug 2012
N.B. There are still some missing details (and possibly birds) which I will add once the information becomes available.
Some quick updates from Roy Dennis:
Red 8T across the Sahara & Atlas Mts, heading for Casablanca and Rabat.
Beatrice still on the Adour
Rothiemurchus still at his wintering site.
No updates - at least not yet - for Fearna & Fiddich.
I just read that it has been confirmed Erika has been found dead under a power line. So very sad :(

Thank you for passing on that very sad news, Starling :'(
IMAGICAT
Starling thanks for that bad news. The second electrocution incident this year so far as there was another one in France which was unringed.
Here is Urmas report with some good news as well :
"Sad news about Erika - she was found dead under the power line, at last locations on map. After six years we followed her :(
We were preparing to trap her again and remove the transmitter, but were too late with this.
Let's hope for no problems to Piret in the same stopover place.
But Latvian Osprey Eriks awoke and is sending data since Oct 2012. All seems fine with her, simply in wintering place there is no GSM network in the middle of waste Ndogo Lagoon, Gabon."
I believe Erika was the longed-tracked osprey ever, she was on the return leg of her sixth migration since being tagged.
It seems that Erika was 11 years old according to Estonian Forum.
Thanks Starling and Alan for the sad confirmation about Erika, I have been thinking too and wondering who the other unringed osprey was, which was also electricuted. so sad.
Thanks for the news about Piret, hope she makes it back ok.
