Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Aug 2012 - Sep 2014

This Topic has been set up to follow the Autumn 2012 migration and wintering of satellite tracked ospreys, other than Caledonia and Alba from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread, Tracking Caledonia & Alba

This topic replaces Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Mar-Aug 2012

N.B. There are still some missing details (and possibly birds) which I will add once the information becomes available.

  • Thank you Alan for the updates.

  • Thanks Sheila. Here it is  Sao Nicolau

Looks to be a beautiful island.

  • Thanks Chloe, not sure why mine didn't work.

  • Perhaps it was the fault of the website and not yours. A momentary glitch. It happened to me a little while back and yet I was sure I had done it right.

  • BTW. The thing is that not only has Stan's flight been amazing it certainly is a European record (sorry Alba) and possibly a world record. If he now overwinters in Cape Verde Islands it could be claimed as a world record. Although Belle flew from New England to South America in seven days she then continued down into South America. It seems as if Stan may have completed his migration in about seven days. Needs checking out but I feel that is true.

What an incredible thrill for the pupils of Logie school who adopted Stan.

    Here is Stan's profile

I guess Stan was saying "I will show mummy" when he started out.

I suppose you all got to ask is where did Stan catch his fish? :)

  • A few of the tagged juveniles seem to be in a real hurry this year, amazing they know where they are going and how to get at such a young age. Some humans live many long years and still don't have the answer to where they are going :)

  • I had not realised how fast Stan was. He left home at 10.30am on Wednesday 12th September 2012.

Surely Roy will write a book about him?

  • Have just caught up with Stan's amazing fllight and ...phew! safe landfall What an osprey indeed and, as you say, TIGER , how exciting for the kids at Logie school

    Well done champ!
