Yes but Ceulan started from Wales. It is over 400 miles from Loch Garten to Dyfi.

Yes Tiger, I suppose closer if we knock off Albas first day and maybe take her time from the Carlisle spot, it knocks 1.5 days off her time. I am sure with a little time we can work this out a little more scientifically as you mention above.

Lmac: I saw your question before I went out, just back! A Sainsburys adventure, no records broken there! I thought a simple question, but does it have a simple answer? I guess we would have to get the exact times, for departure, as close as possible, if the stats are accurate. Then we have to work in GMT, fortunately the time zones may well be the same for departure and arrival. Then, we do not have anyone at the finish line and where is the finish line? It would have to be a GE/GPS race and use approximation with the sat fix points, with say, the definition of the finish being a stopover of more than one night, in an area of 'x' square metres or kilometeres.
Do we have a handicapping system, for the extra distance at the start, as Tiger said? If the difference is obvious, say several days, then OK, we could say that one beat the other. :o)

NEW BLOG Both are basically in the same place, Alba ranging but not too far, Cally is still enjoying the city life; Richard is trying to figure out what she is doing there and whether she is roosting on trees or structures. Going out now, will update and study the news more closely later,
Alba and Caledonia update, I could not add to Richard's excellent blog. Also many thanks for the nice comments you have made about the thread. I will have a look for a picture of the roost that Caledonia has between the trees and the bridge, to see what it is.
Caledonia visited this beautiful city park, in Seville, on the 7th. She must have been seen there surely, even early or late in the day. It is a main tourist attraction.
Search google images for, 'parque de maria luisa sevilla'. (My url is firefox specific, so best to paste into google.) The roost closer to the bridge, than the trees appears to be a jetty, or a ship moored at the jetty, belonging to the company, Agencia Marítima Portillo, S.L., who are involved in Consignación de buques or Consignment of ships. You can get them on Street View on the street behind to docks frontage.

Ceulan has arrived at the Banc d'Arguin National Park on the coast of Mauritania, last fix was 12th at 6pm, maybe not the Senegal River, just yet, but what an excellent place to be.
