This thread has been set up to follow the travels of Caledonia and Alba, the young ospreys raised at Loch Garten in 2012.
Their mother is “EJ”, the resident female at Loch Garten since 2003; there is some doubt about the identity of their biological father, given EJ’s dalliance with a male from a neighbouring nest, Blue XD, both before and after the return of her regular partner Odin, who raised them.
Caledonia hatched on 16th May and Alba on 18th May; they both fledged on 14th July.
This is a link to the Loch Garten blog describing the ringing and satellite tagging.
Caledonia’s ring is Blue/White AA1, reading downwards. Alba’s is Blue/White AA2, reading upwards.
Following the tracking
This page gives a quick overview of the routes on a map, which will be more useful once they start migrating.
If you want to look at the routes in more detail on Google Earth, this page contains instructions on setting up your PC to do this.
This blog contains some useful information about how the tracking works – we are now on a 3-day reporting period.
New blog from Richard - Caley has been moving around a lot
Note that Richard has said....
"There has been a change to a piece of software in RSPB which means that the Google Earth data is not being updated. Hopefully this will be resolved over the next few days".
.......meaning that although LG are receiving transmissions OK for Caley, they are unable to display new data on Google Earth. The latest point currently displayed on GE is for 27th November, though Richard has data up to yesterday 12th Dec.
Great news Stunning Caledonia is ok and hope she spends Christmas in Spain.
I know all want to see the tracking updates but so pleased she is ok :)
Thank you for the reassurance, SUE :-)
Thank you for thriving, Cally - keep it up :-*
IMAGICAT
MeteoSevilla - keep up to date with Caledonia's weather.
Though reasonably warm, it looks rather gloomy on the webcams right now.
Thanks Sue C that is wonderful and saved as a favourite.
We all want Caledonia to stay in Spain and hope she does and saying no more as not tempting fate.
New blog from Richard
Caledonia is still in Seville, and has been on some more trips to near the Isla Magica theme park
He has asked a contact in Spain to have a look for her, but with no success so far.
Google Earth is still not updating, so the last data is still for 27th Nov.
Thanks Sue C ~ Fantastic to have good news of Caledonia, hope she stays where she is after recent events regarding Ceulan.

Great news that she is still enjoying Espana, as I agree with NiteOwl.
The best news Caledonia is still in Spain :)
