This thread has been set up to follow the travels of Caledonia and Alba, the young ospreys raised at Loch Garten in 2012.
Their mother is “EJ”, the resident female at Loch Garten since 2003; there is some doubt about the identity of their biological father, given EJ’s dalliance with a male from a neighbouring nest, Blue XD, both before and after the return of her regular partner Odin, who raised them.
Caledonia hatched on 16th May and Alba on 18th May; they both fledged on 14th July.
This is a link to the Loch Garten blog describing the ringing and satellite tagging.
Caledonia’s ring is Blue/White AA1, reading downwards. Alba’s is Blue/White AA2, reading upwards.
Following the tracking
This page gives a quick overview of the routes on a map, which will be more useful once they start migrating.
If you want to look at the routes in more detail on Google Earth, this page contains instructions on setting up your PC to do this.
This blog contains some useful information about how the tracking works – we are now on a 3-day reporting period.
Caledonia still near Seville , bless her. But at least out of the heart of the city with it's oily water. Well, the fishing must be good and all young Ospreys need the practice.
I am very glad too that Cally moved from the cement jungle she seemed too fond of and hopefully Alba can hold on to her piece of paradise
Hello everyone. Does anyone have any news about Cally? I'm quite worried, as there has been a terrible weather in Southern Spain. :-( Maybe you have already written something on another thread?
Tiger's Osprey News
Last position for Caledonia was on 26th September. No update since that I am aware of.
Many thanks, Alan. Do you know when next data will be available?

I think that Caledonia and Alba's trackers are on a three day cycle just now. So there my well be an update tonight on Google Earth. Failing that it will be tomorrow on Loch Garten blog.

Many thanks, Tiger. I hope she is well.
Alba : no change, Caledonia no change as at 29th September.
Thanks, Alan. Sounds as if we will have to wait until Tuesday/ Wednesday for the next update and confirmation that Cally is still ok, then. I'm sure she will be - probably rather hungry, though, floodwater not being great for fishing in!
On the update, I am reporting Cally fishing as per GE, NNE of Seville, then the last fix she is heading back south, both the north and south tracks are superimposed. I think if she could not fish because of the flooding, she would have moved away.
