This thread has been set up to follow the travels of Caledonia and Alba, the young ospreys raised at Loch Garten in 2012.
Their mother is “EJ”, the resident female at Loch Garten since 2003; there is some doubt about the identity of their biological father, given EJ’s dalliance with a male from a neighbouring nest, Blue XD, both before and after the return of her regular partner Odin, who raised them.
Caledonia hatched on 16th May and Alba on 18th May; they both fledged on 14th July.
This is a link to the Loch Garten blog describing the ringing and satellite tagging.
Caledonia’s ring is Blue/White AA1, reading downwards. Alba’s is Blue/White AA2, reading upwards.
Following the tracking
This page gives a quick overview of the routes on a map, which will be more useful once they start migrating.
If you want to look at the routes in more detail on Google Earth, this page contains instructions on setting up your PC to do this.
This blog contains some useful information about how the tracking works – we are now on a 3-day reporting period.
thank you Lmac. Surely tomorrow some news.
Alan or Others - Alba's update expected 24/10 which has not been reported. I expected the next to be 28/10 which may get reported today.
When does the tracker move from 4 day interval to weekly - is it the end of October.
Lmac has reported that 8 days since Alba last moved - This sounds more worrying to me - Have we actually received data and that it is showing No Movement for 8 days or is this just a misinterpretation.
Unfortunatrely I can not competent enough with GE to use tracking and rely heavily on others who post here for information.
There is no change / update to GE overnight from LG.

Sat track schedule Spring 2014
LG 7 days; RW & SWT nil; LDOP varies
JSB - Thank You and Is this good news then that Alba is hopping around from the Island to the Mainland as we saw previous 20/10 post.
Some were getting concerned.
No updates (active or otherwise) for Alba since 20/10. One missed update need not be significant, and I don't think they tend to post updates over the weekend, but will be getting worried if we don't hear anything today re the expected 28/10 data. I expect they will move to weekly updates after this.
RACHEL - Thank you and I may have mis interpretated JSB post - Sorry I read it as all is normal with no changes.
I am thinking the same as you that one missed update is of no concern so am eagerly awaiting 28.10 data.
Yes, I think most of us are thinking along the same lines and hopefully today we will know the score.
