Welcome ALL to a new week from chilly Adelaide (4.0 C min overnight here near the beach).
AQ that meal looks and sounds delicious. Also love your LOL smiles.
ANNETTE Dillon developed a haematoma and had it syringed yesterday. He has to go back on Wed to see how it is doing. They will not operate unless it gives him grief.
Sorry about missing pic. I will try again.
Mor Puffins for you. These are in the Firth of Forth.
dibnlib: Ah so. Poor Dillon! What a cute little critter - um - what is it?
The opening ceremonies are being shown at 7:30 our time this evening. Will be tuning in then! Don't fancy watching them live online.
Evening all,
Thanks for all the posts and pics.
Not been doing a lot the last couple of days. Did manage a trip to Barnwell yesterday and got another fleeting glimpse of a kingfisher but no pics this time. Weather has been hot every day with max of 30c on tuesday, 27c on wednesday, 28c yesterday and 25c today. Managed to cut the grass today as it was a little cooler. LadyP is a little better but still not 100%. She has her CT scan next thursday. I have also booked Hamish in to be groomed next friday as he has been very hot and bothered in this weather.
ANNETTE the little beaut is a 7 week old otter. He was spotted by a dog walker who left him be in case his Mum was around but then returned to the spot 24 hrs later ( I am sure the kindly person didn't sleep all night).and found him still alone and in distress and so rescued him and contacted the SSPCA. He is doing well and will be released into the wild when he is approx 1 year old. He is called Noah and was found after atrocious weather in OGs neck of the woods.
We went down to Revack today and had a nice lunch while watching Red Squirrels feeding on the bird table. going to watch some of the opening ceremony now
The Olympics is on and Frankie Boyle has just tweeted:
"A British countryside scene. Halfway through a woman walking a dog discovers a body"
Alan: What a hoot - wonder if Sherlock Holmes will turn up to investigate.
It's getting really silly now. The 'queen' has just parachuted into the stadium.
I am reading a really good book just now called Hyperion by Dan Simmonds. It is based in the 29th century and the universe of the Human Hegemony is under threat. Invasion by the warlike Ousters looms, and the mysterious schemes of the secessionist AI TechnoCore bring chaos even closer. On the eve of disaster with the entire galaxy at war, seven pilgrims set forth on a final voyage to the legendary Time Tombs on Hyperion, home of the Shrike, a lethal creature, part god and part killing machine, whose powers transcend the limits of time and space. The pligrims have resolved to die before discovering anything less than the secrets of the universe itself.
One of the pilgrims is carrying a baby now only 3 days old who has been aging backwards since she was 26 years old the last time she visited the Time Tombs. I find aging backwards a fascinating concept and the way it is described in the book is amazing.
