Welcome ALL to a new week from chilly Adelaide (4.0 C min overnight here near the beach).

  • Well done W B,you are a angel.

  • Hi OG its 18th that we set off OH said he will take me to LG on the sunday day after we get there so hopefully some of them will still be around

  • OG : Still here but been lurking at home today. Cut the grass and cleaned out the dogs shed before it got too hot. We had a high of 27.9c here today.

  • Hello folks.  A miserable day here with constant rain - looks like fine drizzle but is heavy and VERY WET!.

Wendy You are wonderful.  Many people would just keep well away from your elderly neighbour.  My OH's carers are very good but if things go wrong (a fall, for instance)  we have to phone for the ambulance.  He's a big man and the ambulance crews (even the girls) are trained to lift.  Do be careful you don't find yourself having to take responsibility for your neighbour.  I know that sounds hard but my late M-i-L used to say a favour today was a duty tomorrow.

I'm going to try to post a picture I took of the Olympic flame passing through our town, on 3 June (just 6 weeks late posting) and one of the lovely red sunset we had recently - they've been rare this summer.  Didn't work - I'll try again later.

  • WENDY  one of the reasons I don't have much time for my 2 nieces is that although they live only 4 miles from my Mum they rarely visit her and when they do it is because they want something and I am talking a lot more than a £5 or £10. Sounds a bit like your neighbours grand daughter. Glad you could help your neighbour.

ALICAT  have a good holiday. When do you go away?

What a good day we have had. We drove to Cromarty this morning and got some great views of The Sutors. Decided we needed a coffee and found Sutor Creek Cafe. It was only about 1115 but they were serving pizzas baked in a wood fired stone oven. Now I don't like pizzas but this sounded interesting. We both has a small!!! pizza - spicy chicken, sweetcorn and caramelized onion for me and Italian sausage, mushroom and red onion for OH. These are made from scratch in situ and boy they were delicious. I am converted, but only to pizzas at Sutors Creek. The chef is extremely proud of her oven and was pleased to show it to us. We walked Dillon at the beach and then went to Storehouse of Foulis for lattes and a shared blueberry cheesecake and another walk. Next stop was Toullie Red Kites but no birds for us today. We were there at feeding timebut no luck. Finally we stopped off at Beauly Gallery where I bought a felt snail brooch. Is this where you got your camera equipment OG.

think we should all take advice from this dog.

  • dibnlib What a fantastic picture!  That dog just radiates joy.

Right - another attempt at posting pictures.

    Yaaay!

  • Hello to everyone! It was 39.4 C (103 F) here late this afternoon. So tired of the heat.

Annette, Lindy, and other whale folks: I was not impressed with this New York Times article. I then read the comments following the article and felt vindicated for my reaction. Not good journalism!

    Take care, all.

  • Diane: Ugh to the heat.  I'll check that link tomorrow.

Will catch up tomorrow folks; busy day today but at least we have food in the house.

  • Glorious day so will head to Dornoch for a walk and lunch and return home via Portmahomack. First of all an early swim as can't go anywhere much till after OHs dental appointment at 1000.

The Osprey story at Rutland is bizarre with Dad attacking female juv when she is in flight (and he means business). Believe she had one short flight yesterday evening when he left her alone so hope that is the end of his nonsense
