Welcome ALL to a new week from chilly Adelaide (4.0 C min overnight here near the beach).
Hi ~ we have had a marvellous afternoon at the Wedd. Annv. Party, in the sunshine.
Wendy: Love the Red Arrows, too. dibnlib: Glad that Dillon is already back to his old self.
Lottie is a Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer, and yes, they get even hairier as they grow: she should be curly all over by the time she is a proper adult!
~ Goodness, I never thought of my duck as being female - even though he has only been with us for a couple of days, I have always referred to him as 'he' !! Laughed at the thought of 'Delilah Duck', so will have to give it some more thought now!
Back tomorrow, must go abed now as weary.
Hi all, looking in early this week as am helping out at our Church Kids Week all week.
Had a lovely weekend with a cricket match with a team from Lashings (international ex professional cricketers who play for charity matches) and a Brixworth/Northants team. The home team won so they want a rematch - they don't like getting beaten. That was on the Friday and we had our Club Summer Ball last night - danced my socks off when my legs would let me!!
Super news about Wiggins - watched the end of the TourDe France.
Love the pictures of your puppy, Lindybird.
Alicat - glad you have booked your holiday - anywhere nice?
AQ - you are getting winter now - now you know how it feels over here, no just kidding. LOL
Keep warm.
Annette - hi there.
Diane - hi to you as well
Not forgotten you all - have said before that I look in on the LG and LOtL threads more at this time of year.
Take care all and have a good week.

Hi lynette yes Scotland l just love it there

Evening all: Watched movies most of the day (The Queen, Alien, Contagion - all very jolly) but did manage to struggle out to the hammock with a book. We've decided we're going to get take out tonight and OH is off to get that. It was such a lazy day I may do the same tomorrow (just kidding).
Lindybird: Will not be hurt if you don't name your duck after my g-granddaughter! (There's always Tomasz you know, but that may create other problems). :-)) Never heard of Slovakian Pointers - will have to a Google image search of an adult one. Glad you had a wonderful time in the sun at the party!
Alicat: Good to hear your back to normal. Are you going to LG?
Lynette: Have a good week; I'm sure we'll all catch up properly when the birds have flown.
Take care everyone and have a good - and sunny I hope! - Monday.
I shall attempt to catch up on last week.
Linda, Brenda - re how close we are to Daus. Not near enough for me. It's a 40-50 min drive diagonally across metro area to both, time depends on rush hour traffic. OK, they could be 3 hours away or interstate, so I shouldn't moan. Fingers crossed, touch wood and all that, I haven't caught Dau's nasty cold.
Dibnlib - I'd much rather look at pics of mountain peaks than climb them.
Alan - Just a thought - could you have shouted "Fire" to empty the hide?
Annette - So sad about your g-dau's marriage. Let's hope they can communicate sensibly.
Margo - I wish your sister a speedy recovery, tho' it does seem terribly slow in the first few weeks. My new knee is mostly OK, it's just the other one that protests when I do too much.
Wendy - The rancher's wife, very very funny.
Lynette - I doubt that I have any idea how cold it can get UpOver there.
Yesterday a family gathering at Dau1's. S-i-l made a most scrumptious cheesecake for a'tea. LittleMiss provided the entertainment.
What am I to do now? The Tour de France is finished. My pile of reading is minimal. I am fed up with the Olympics already and they haven't started. Besides the adverts extolling the vitamins or whatever the athletes are fixed on, we have the wonder stories of how great our athletes are compared to everyone else and how many Gold Gold Gold we are going to win. ra ra ra bla bla bla
Had a grizzle with one of my libraries. I visited last time on a Wed, 4 week borrowing period ends on . . Tues. I like to return on same day to match the hours of the Local History room. Librarian blamed the self-serve machine. Excuse me, who set the machine? That library has switched to the OneCard system. They had initial teething problems where the self-serve machine gave out past dates. Again, who programmed this machine? Sadly my local library is not joining up until at least mid next year, so I shall still have carry a wallet full of library cards.
Lovely sunny day. Blue sky. No breeze. Min was 7 C, currently 15.5 C. Will washing dry? Who cares!!!
Good Morning: Monday again! Bright sunshine here, so I bounced out of bed (well, sort of...) OH has just dashed out to help clear up all the chairs, tables and debris from the party yesterday (20 mins from here) - we lent them six chairs and a table, as they had filled the garden expecting 80 guests and I think most of them did attend. They put out gazebos and chairs under the trees, and had a Traditional Jazz Band playing for an hour or two, on and off, which made the whole event very jolly! Nice speeches, especially from the Happy Couple's laid back son, and champagne and strawberries after a good repast of sandwiches and cake. A memorable day.
AQ: Did laugh at the thought of machines giving out lending dates in the past! Hope they dont give you a fine over the latest mix-up. Glad you don't seem to be getting the family cold. Forgot to say, loved the pics of Little Miss with the cat on the stool. You can imagine the Olympic Fever here, with only a few days to go - I shall enjoy it all, but feel heartily sorry for those amongst us who do not follow sport, as it will be wall to wall from now on. Great that Bradley Wiggins did so well, he is very modest and unassuming so Good Luck to him in the Olympics, too.
Annette: Glad to hear you had a Lazy Day. We all need one now and then. Did post a pic of the adult Slovakian Pointer before, here it is again.... A handsome looking dog, never seen an adult myself.
Here are your Monday Smiles for this week: more Notices!
(that was my favourite !!) and lastly:
~ ~ a bit gruff, I thought!
Hi Anette yes we will be going to LG hope that they are all still there when we go
Good morning all and at long last I am back. Sister is more mobile now and getting along fine but feeling frustrated that she is not active as she usually is. She will be glad when she gets the stitches out now but that won't happen until next Monday as they have to stay in for 2 weeks. OH was dropping me off each day on is way to work and picking me up on his way home. Needless to say not much was done as regards HW in this home but on the other hand it was nice to spend so much time with her. Billie obviously missed me as I never go out leaving her outside so she was craving lots of cuddles and strokes and in her way telling me off for being missing so much.
Whoopee we are now on our third day of summer, with each day being warmer than the last. Spent most of the day in the garden yesterday and filled countless sacks up. OH went down the dump but it seemed everyone had been doing the same and there was an enormous queue so he came back with it all and will try again next weekend. Still an awful lot to do but he did manage to mow all the lawns but they they were still quite damp in places. Need it to stay dry for a while now hopefully.
Sorry belated birthday wishes to all which I have missed and also thanks for all the posts and pics. AQ loved the ones of Little Miss taunting the cat, what a little darling she is.
Heather I cheered out loud when I saw your post about a new washing machine. Hope things are calming down a little for you but I realise it will take time.
Annette have been thinking of you and grand-daughter. Hopefully things will be more amicable but once again difficult decisions to be made.
Wendy thanks for another gem, made me laugh.
dibnlib was sorry to read that Dillon has a problem which hopefully has been sorted out now and he will be back to full health shortly.
trish hope Mia is improving now for you.
Lindybird lovely pics of Lottie the puppy, what a gorgeous colour. So pleased you had a good day at the flower show and I love your duck Sounds as though the party went well and most importantly good weather arrived. Thanks for the Monday Smiles.
ALICAT have a great holiday in Scotland and I hope you are feeling a little better.
Sorry I have responded to everyone but I am so far behind it is impossible. Have a good day and take care and I hope that those of you where summer has not arrived will get what we have here in Poole soon.
Margobird
Quiet day Sunday, and a nice country drive in the afternoon, taking a moorland and forest route home from an afternoon tea – this is the village which does neat little (crusts off) sandwiches, scones and pancakes with home made strawberry jam and a selection of cakes – no cream. No evening service as our Minister was sick – caught a bug from his wife. Rain arrived in the night, and been continuous but varying in intensity. Not complaining as we already had more summer than most of UK! J was out this morning at holiday club, then OH this afternoon at museum – so lunches in two instalments! Been pootling about with food and general looking busy – some restriction on internet use as OH started rewiring the phones, but he has left a temporary line to the hub for online connection.
Wendy – really enjoyed the rancher’s widow story – I also didn’t anticipate the ending!
Linda – nice to see Lovely Lottie - beautiful colour and cute whiskers! Good that the Spaniels don’t mind having a long legged puppy in their house! Pleased Tatton stayed mostly dry – and I love Dilly Duck (my Grannie called all her Ducks “Dilly”!) Lunch in the garden sounds good, and glad it was a fine day for afternoon celebration too, which sounds a wonderful party. Thanks for all the Monday Smiles – I think the first was my favourite!
Patricia – sounds like a lovely party there too. Always good to see you on here when you have the time.
Annette – you really ought to make a date with your OH and make sure neither of you are doing anything else that day!
Alicat – pleased you have a nice holiday in Scotland to look forward to. I hope it’s in early August so you see at least some of the LG family!
Lynette - I hope your first day of Kids’ Week is going well, and not too tiring, especially after the dancing on Saturday!
AQ – that is quite a distance for baby-sitting etc. I have to admit we intentionally didn’t retire to near daughter who had 5 kids at the time (three of them fostered), in order to avoid just that! I am probably not so “Grandmaternal” as you! I’m glad I am not the only one already tired of the flippin’ olympics! We ought to set up a new competition – “O****ic Avoidance” – see who can last longest without seeing any of it – like we do at Ch******s!
Margo – good to see you posting again and pleased your sister is doing well. Pleased you are getting some summer at last.
Ought to find Things to Do – I wonder where Alan is lurking today?
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
hello to everybody - just caught up with all your lives - been so busy & distracted today - 93 year old lady who lives opposite me had a fall and was on floor from 6 - 10 am with cut knee. Couldn't lift her and carer who called me over is 8 months pregnant so I said call the ambulance - was worried about infection anyway as she has a very large, smelly collie dog!! The ambulance men checked her over and then sent for paramedic to dress wound & fill out report for SS. Then realised her lifeline box & pendant were missing (never rains but...& all that) so had to ring all sorts of people to find out who supplier was - sorted that (after searching property twice over to make sure it wasn't there) and she can have another one for free thank goodness sometime this week. She has a grand-daughter who 'uses' her every so often - nasty piece of work and I suspect that she thought there was monetary value in this equipment (there isn't) so she has made off with it. I have been trying to keep out of this situation for the last 2 years but get dragged in every so often when she falls - sounds heartless I know but she is in care of SS and has carers 3 times a day but she is alone for long spells of time. She is a sweetie and has most of her marbles but can tell lies also - the house is a smelly tip - you wouldn't believe how she is living and all so she can keep this dog who needs serious attention but can be difficult to handle. What do I do?????
In the meantime I am trying to catch up with all happenings in our world as well as taking pics & vids of Kestrels in my quarry - so don't even talk to me about dinner!! Man will be home from work soon so I'll have to make it up as I go along - bye for now
