Welcome ALL to a new week from chilly Adelaide (4.0 C min overnight here near the beach).

  • Evening all: Really hectic day here, but a better one than some recent days.  Plan to  do Nothing tomorrow; may even take a book to the beach; we'll see....

dibnlib: Hurray that Dillon doing better; as Trish2 says, good thing you weren't on the receiving end! Do they ever give yogurt to doggies with intestinal upsets? Love that shot of the German shepherd and the kiddie by the pool and, yes, spiders are bad enough when you can see them...

Alan: First kingfisher this year? Seems like it was just yesterday that you saw one - lovely birds.

Lindybird: Trust me, the shooting in Colorado won't be an issue in the debates - the "Right to bear arms" is alive and well; such hypocrisy!  Don't get me started on this particular "right."  Ugh.

AQ: Thanks for starting a new thread. Stay warm. How's that knee?

Here's hoping that summer has finally arrived in the UK,  Take care all and have a good Sunday.

  • ANNETTE  haven't heard of giving dogs yogurt for tummy upsets. Chicken and rice mix is the usual and that is what the food we got from the vet is made up from. I could have done it myself but  this way I know he is getting the correct ammount. He has had a couple of good reports from his walks since his return from the vet.  I was meant to be walking him with a friend and her Lab this morning but friend is still recovering from a broken big toe and thinks she overdid it yesterday as she has woken up in pain again so she has called off.

  • Good Morning:    Thanks to AQ for starting us off again.  Sounds cold there!!!!    Can't imagine it being cold, somehow!

dibnlib:   Glad that Dillon seems to be recovering.  Think that the diet you mention is the usual one that vets give to dogs with an upset stomach/digestive probs.  Sounds nice and bland.  How horrible to have a broken big toe - my sympathies to your friend.  I loved the pic with the Alsation and the child, too.

    Back later with some pics.

  • AQ – thanks for starting off the new week.  Enjoy the cooler weather while it lasts – you’ll soon be finding it too hot again – spring is just around the corner!

Annette – Pleased you had a slightly less hectic day, and I hope you really will do nothing today – and spend some time with your lovely OH!

Dibnlib – chicken and rice was always our remedy for Dogs’ tummy troubles.  Pleased your Boy is doing well!  I hope your friend will be able to rest her toe more today.

Linda - looking forward to the promised pix!

We are supposed to having a quieter day today – I have said I am fed up with feeling rushed when its time to get ready for evening service at church.  J isn’t playing this week, so that may help!  He’s just set off to the morning service, so will get his towels in the wash and then make soup for lunch – Butternut Squash and Red Pepper.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • ANOTHER GEM from my friend Genie........

A successful rancher died and left everything to his devoted wife.

She was a very good-looking woman and determined to keep the ranch, but knew

very little about ranching, so she decided to place an ad in the newspaper

for a ranch hand.  Two cowboys applied for the job.  One was gay and the

other a drunk.  She thought long and hard about it, and when no one else

applied, she decided to hire the gay guy, figuring it would be safer to have

him around the house than the drunk.

He proved to be a hard worker who put in long hours every day and knew a lot

about ranching.  For weeks, the two of them worked, and the ranch was doing

    very well.

Then one day, the rancher's widow said to the hired hand, "You have done a

really good job and the ranch looks great.  You should go into town and kick

up your heels."  The hired hand readily agreed and went into town one

    Saturday night.

One o'clock came, however and he didn't return.

Two o'clock and no hired hand.

Finally he returned at round two-thirty and, upon entering the room, he found

the rancher's widow sitting by the fireplace with a glass of wine, waiting

for him.  She quietly called him over to her.

"Unbutton my blouse and take it off" she said.  Trembling, he did as she

    directed.

"Now take off my boots."  He did as she asked, ever so slowly.  "Now take

off my stockings."  He removed each gently and placed them neatly by her

    boots.

"Now take off my skirt."  He slowly unbuttoned it, constantly watching her

eyes in the fire light.  "Now take off my bra."  Again with trembling hands,

he did as he was told and dropped it to the floor.

Then she looked at him and said, "If you ever wear my clothes into town

    again, you're fired."

    (P.S. - I didn't see it coming either)

  • LOL   Wendy!

OG:  Hope you have a restful Sunday.  It can be a busy day if you try to pack too much in!!  I'll be round for a bowl of that delicious sounding soup, later....

The sun is out, here (whoopie!) and my OH has put my lounger in the garden with instructions to be sitting in it when he gets back from the allotment:  he has been gone for a while but I have been on the phone to my Credit Card Co. as have had calls from them regarding fraud this week, and now they have blocked my card - this all happened before, about a year ago, and I ended up with new cards. It puts me off using the internet for buying stuff, as although I only use reputable companies I suspect that somehow that is how my card has been cloned. <sigh>

Here are the promised pics of little (!) Lottie, the puppy - she is growing daily and already has longer legs than when I met her ten days ago. My Friend is looking after her for her sister & OH who are basking in the sun in Maderia at the moment.

I am all legs from behind!!

(sorry about the quality of that one: I had the devil of a job photographing her as she is so active)

And I look so cute with my whiskers around my face...

Here I am, ready to lick the camera - my head looks rather big as Linda is looking down at  me and clicking the shutter like mad!

she was one of the most difficult subjects I have ever tried to photograph!  EDIT:   Friends spaniels in the background of pics, they are so patient with Lottie as they are much older and she is soo boisterous!

We had a wonderful day at the Tatton Flower Show, which I will tell you about another time with pics. The clouds came over but the rain held off except for a couple of drops when we sat down for our lunchtime sandwich - OH put up our golf umbrella and it did the trick as it went away again. We walked and walked, and then when we got home I was tired out and my knees ached, but it was a great day.  I bought three pink Lily  bulbs, and made note of a beautiful white hardy fuschia which I did not buy as we couldn't face carrying it around with us and were too lazy to go to the Plant Creche with.  I shall look for it in the garden centres now.  I also came home with a small heart shaped plaque, handmade, which says "Home Sweet Home" and I am going to hang in the kitchen of our caravan.  This was my favourite buy - a Duck made from recycled metal materials and varnished so he can go in the garden!!!

~  can hear my OH returning and I am not in the garden -  oh heck!    Must go.......

Suggestions for a name for my wonderful duckie, please!!

  • got our holiday booked yesterday for august

  • Great, ALICAT!  Now thats something to look forward to!

  • Oh Lindybird - can't see your pics at mo as there seems to be a problem with RSPB again - just like last week - doggie has been in touch with them though and I will check again later because when RSPB fix fault then they just drop in!!
