How many of us are torn between dread and hope for the new day to come?
The peace and quiet of the LG nest is punctuated solely by unalarming chick noises. Long may that last.
IMAGICAT
Leaving aside the behaviour, when you see the size of #1 and #2 in RtB's vid you do realize what a brilliant job EJ and Odin have done so far when we compare them to the size they were when a lot younger. The violence has perhaps obscured this achievement.
Hello Annette.
There is certainly a great deal of (largely unnecessary) suffering in the world of man, and much of it these days seems to be highly rewarded :-/ I'm aware of a lot that goes on, probably more than most, but I still find scenes like this upsetting. I wonder how many other osprey nests are suffering a similar fate at the moment.....

That would be a day when the software settings went haywire! >:(
I seems to me that his growth was retarded by the increasing attacks, lack of nourishment I presume.
patily: that is a good picture for comparison. When was it taken?
RtB: It's not easy to watch, no matter who the victims are I agree...
EJ's just flown in with something afoot - either it was a fish or there was some left over on the nest.
EJ is back, shifting moss around. Is there a scrap of fish there? Chick #1 seems to think so!
Yes, she is feeding #1 again. #2 doesn't seem interested for once, and is resting behind its sibling.
These are the two FISH DELIVERIES, most of feeding not included - it was peaceful enough, apart from a brief squeal from #2 when #1 hit out during the first feed.
EJ BRINGS WHALE @ 1345hr:
EJ announced the arrival of Odin in her usual manner, despite that she was still feeding from her own fish.
