How many of us are torn between dread and hope for the new day to come?
The peace and quiet of the LG nest is punctuated solely by unalarming chick noises. Long may that last.

Thank you so much Moffer! There was no need for this to happen!
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Thank you Barbara

This was not normal nest fighting. I have been watching osprey cams for nine years and this violence was the worst I have seen. The only episode like it was Nethy on the Wee Yin in 2008 and that was still still more fish related.

Sandra, I agree with you as well, I would never be able to stand back and not give assistance, thats why I would be no use working with wild animals and birds.

I am glad to say that I am now going out for the day, ( Father's Day), although it has been an awful viewing start to the day. Take care ALL.
I can hardly see through my tears Poor little dear #3 Why? Why? why?
It s first days seemed so postive until the beginning of last week. It has suffered a week of unnecessary torment apart from Friday....at least it is no longer suffering but that is small consolation.
One of the other chicks is looking at#3 quisically
Have a good day out, Brenda :-)
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Thank you Moffer for posting the last video, so I could see in my own eyes that the two chicks actually finished the poor little one. I am very sad to see the end, but as I could not watch live for a day or two now, I would not have known why and how the end happened without your video. I find it strange that without fighting for FOOD (as there was none to fight for at that time) the two attacked the wee one. They might have sensed that s/he was not their siblings. I really think it is possible, as male ospreys sometimes know this about their eggs even! Very very sorry folks to see the nest with a little body lying there. I think it died, and if this is the case, at least it is not suffering any more.

[/quote] I agree. Nethy was mean but it was over the lack of food. I never recall her attacking WEE Jin when he was in a submissve pose.
