I have always felt that we should have a thread for EJ as well as Odin.
My countdown clock says that we might expect her to swoop into Loch Garten 76 days from now. I hjope it has warmed up by then.

Oh I wish someone would write her story as well, I would love to read it
The more you rush, the longer it takes
SueC has done a brilliant job with facts but I honestly think a fantastic story Eilieloo and thankyou :)

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
As we await for the return of EJ people might want to read over this thread.
Here is the list of her return dates
and her record at Loch Garten
and EJ's History
That was timely, Tiger - I've just watched the fish delivery video again! Is it likely that EJ remembers this?

You mean the Tesco delivery? It is hard to know the mind of an osprey but it did seem that she knew what a pine marten is ok.
I'd love to know how she thinks - she remembers crucial things like her nest, Odin and her migration routes but I don't know how much else she can recall. In fact, every time the chicks are taken for ringing I wonder whether she's simply alarm calling or reassuring the chicks that they won't be harmed. She's seen the ringing people show up many times now.
I feel that she is bound to sound her alarm call, even though she may guess the outcome when they take the chicks from the nest - its an automatic response. Of course, that could be totally wrong and she could be shouting "Not you lot again - gerroff my babies you thieving humans!"

Thanks Tiger! I looked for your countdown clock a few weeks ago but the link didn't work. I see you & Chloe have been busy -- web site looks really good (and significantly expanded?)
Thanks too SueC for the nice summary.
I hope this year is calm, as in "anti-traumatic"... :)
