Lets see if we can come together and raise a bit of money for the Osprey Centre.
I am making an appeal to all of you Osprey lovers. I have read that the LG community is over 600 strong, lets say that there are 150/200 active posters or lurkers.. if everyone donated say £10. I'd imagine that the centre would be able to put £1500/£2000 to very good use.
On the 23rd April I will be setting off from Loch Garten on my bike, just me my gear and my bike no support or following vehicle, and on the Sunday after that is the 29th April I will roll into Rutland Water.(possibly right into Rutland Water..lol). I'm still putting finishing touches to my route and will post it as soon as it is done.
So come on folks, as a well known supermarket would say "every little helps".

Hi everyone..
Here's a wee summary of my route..
Day 1.23/4... Early train from Glasgow Queen Street. 07:06 arriving Aviemore 09:47. Cycle to Loch Garten. I hope to be at LG around 10:30. If, as I hope, some of you manage to be at the start that would be brilliant and a wee chat with you then off at 11:00. Destination, Pitlochry. a distance of around 65 miles.
Day 2.24/4... Pitlochry, via Vane Farm, Loch Leven and The Forth Bridge to Edinburgh approx. 90 miles.
Day 3.25/4... Edinburgh, over the border to Alnwick.. approx 85 miles.
Day 4.26/4... Alnwick, into North Yorkshire to Osmotherly. I think this will be a tough day another 90 miles approx.
Day 5.27/4... Osmotherly to Hull. approx 75 miles.
Day 6.28/4... Hull via The Humber Bridge to Boston, the terrain should be flattening out here so I hope to make good time.. 85 miles approx.
Day 7.29/4... Boston to Rutland Water. 40 miles approx Here the Challenge ends and I can relax. I still have 20 ish miles to Peterborough. Then for fun and to visit relatives and maybe meet up with Sugar, I'm off to Norwich on the Monday 30/4.. approx 80 miles.

I have just met up with Brian again for a coffee before he caught his train home, he was freezing cold by the time i met him at 9.30 as he'd already been there for 3 hours, he soon warmed up with a pot of soup & a bacon roll.
So here he is at Norwich station all ready for his trip home & still smiling,
Hope you have a trouble free journey now you are eventually on your way, :o)
Good morning as it is now folks...
I am HOME... well what do I say about you lot...
THANK YOU.
Yep that about sums it up. you were and are all wonderful.
I had a great week, from the train ride north and Fiona Mackintosh of the John Muir Trust (still to join that) to, the weather, the roads, sometimes a little danger, but only for about a mile, the meetings, MaryGK saving the day with a bar of chocolate, Sunshine and the signs and the gifts and the booze, Mrs & Mr NiteOwl, with gifts of food & black jag the movie and the slideshows, the banter in the evenings. HBOMB.. and my niece... MaryGK again making a summary thread...
The hills, the flat land the wind, the spooky hostel, and grumpy Bed and Breakfast hostess.. the pool in Hull, the not so flat area of north Linconshire..
The sun in the Highlands, the forieners at Drumochter.. the banter in the evening... Oh Black Sheep...
Then the ride in the rain on the last day... the welcome at Rutland Mrs & Mr Ruthie, ChloeB, Zara and the legend... TIGER..... the banter in the evenings...
The strike today, Sugar with a gift of "English Scotch" ?!?..
Home.. and oh did I mention the banter in the evening.
Thank you again every single one of you.. You have made this adventure your own.. I am so pleased to have been a part of it.
Sorry, wrong thread. message eliminated
Good after noon folks,
While I was tucked up asleep I have had email.
Richard is back from holiday and sent this, my reply is also here.
Hello Richard,
I trust you had a nice holiday.
I am really looking forward the the fun kicking off again at LG, when or hopefully when the eggs hatch.
The drama at the start of the season was great to see and I know that many many people are virtually glued to the live camera.
Yes I have a couple of "wee grumbles" as do a few others that have followed the cycle.
I look forward to your reply and as always you are free to call me. 07841261411.
Many thanks, and welcome back.
Regards,
Brian.

Morning Brian
I am just back in the office today, from leave since 25th April, to find myself “in the stocks”. I will address your “wee grumbles” as you put it, in due course, by the end of the week hopefully. I trust that's ok.
In the meantime, very many congratulations on completing your epic cycle ride to Rutland. No mean feat under any circumstances, but with the weather you had to endure, it is all the more remarkable – well done.
Whilst I was abroad, Team LG texted me to let me know you had arrived safely on that Sunday.
Anyway, many congratulations and thank you.
More anon.
Hello all, I'm just home. I'd gone out without my communicator... phone. Lol
So imagine my surprise to learn no my return that WE have won the good egg thingy.. For April.
Congratulations BJ. Very well deserved. Thank you Mary for adding BJ's comment.
Any news from the Centre yet or is it too early for any decision?

Hello everyone,
Here is the text of an email I recieved today from Richard...
"
Hello Brian
Just a quick e-mail to keep you informed. Yesterday we installed a replacement flat-screen TV in the Osprey Centre. We’ve gone for a whopping 60 inch model, and very effective it is too.
Very many thanks for helping make this possible.
Best wishes
