Weekly Chat, Sunday, December 20 2009

Hi folks: Don't forget to check the last pages of the previous chat for links, comments, and all the usual twaddle.  :-)

  • Thanks Sandy lovely reminder of our feisty little Garten.  Hope she is doing well wherever she is.

  • Caerann sorry you are feeling under the weather.  Take care of yourself and I do hope you recover for Christmas.

    Lovely picture of the horses.

  • Gary so pleased you are OK and thanks for the photo. What gorgeous dogs.

  • Great photos original goldfinch and you are right starlings are never still for long.  I have seen more starlings this morning than i have in a long time.  They have found the meal worms I put out but the trouble is they are a bit piggy with them. They still amuse me and I will just go and put some more out for the other birds.

Very icy in my garden this morning so have been extremely careful not to fall over.

  • morning all:)

Just a quickie now as I am late and lots to do (so I'm told........) so will catch up later

Thanks for the comments on the dogs. They are all show dogs so very well behaved when they need to be and big softies ALL the time. They are great and the neighbours don't mind us dropping in for a play:) Dibnlib, I don't think they have advent calender's but will suggest that next year. Glad Dillon got yet another toy:)

  • Margobird – pleased you got out and in on your prepared path without any bruises – take care!

dibnlib – that’s amazing – having doggy toys in good enough condition to recycle!

Gary – are these the dogs you were buying Christmas presents for when you met the Great Dane?  They are so lovely.  Pleased to hear you are keeping busy!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Pied Wagtail here almost permanently the last few days.  Frequently challenged by Blackbirds, but just moves a token few inches and puffs himself up to try to lok like one of the big boys!  Then he in turn chases poor Chaffinch !

  • original goldfinch I have a pair of pied wagtails who are visiting plus an intruder who gets chased off.  They are sweet little birds but quite fiesty with it.  Ice all gone at the moment but not looking foward to this evening when it will all freeze over again.  I get terribly worried about my OH driving to work as he has to travel about 16 miles to get to work.  I am just hoping that the councils are prepared and will grit the roads well tonight.  For sure I will not be going any where until it is a bit safer underfoot.

  • Good Morning Day and Happy Solstice to all!

Gloomy (again) today with temp 27f and wind chill 19f. Snow expected off and on all week but no monster storms like Gary and the East Coast (what a great name for a musical group) have been through. Can't believe the nonsense with the Chunnel trains and saw someone on the news last night that really had his undies in an uproar (knickers in a knot?) over it and rightly so.

The Decorah Eagles have been mostly absent from their nest so far but last year they successfully raised 3 eaglets so it may be a bit early in the season for them yet. The birds at Fort St. Vrain Colorado on the other wing have been building up their nest and are viewable via live feed and 2 minute photos. Not sure if I've posted the link previously or not, so here it is again: http://birdcam.xcelenergy.com/eagle.html

    Have a safe Moonday everyone!

  • oops i see i put SSCA and not SSPCA so it reads as if i took Dillons old toys to the Scottish Society for Cruelty to Animals. God forbid there should be such an organisation. Anyway i did ask his permission first.

We will tackle Marks and Spencer for our Xmas food shopping tomorrow. A little later than usual. Hope they haven't run out of what we want!!!!!

Going to watch one of my fav programmes soon -Morse
