Weekly Chat, Sunday, December 20 2009

Hi folks: Don't forget to check the last pages of the previous chat for links, comments, and all the usual twaddle.  :-)

  • dibnlib Happy Christmas and New Year to you and OH.  Hope you manage to get out and about.  Weather in Dorset is awful this morning, raining but icing over as soon as hits the ground.  Do take care.

  • You have got  a lot of snow Alan but wonderful photo of the Robin.  really festive.

  • Morning everyone.

So much to go through since I last logged in.  Anyway, quite busy yesterday with shopping for some Christmas provisions and cleaning my livingroom.  It's the turn of the kitchen and the hallway today.  Perhaps I should've written a letter to Santa, asking if he'd send some of his elves round to help.  Well I suppose it would be worth a try.  Note to self for next year.

To anybody who's going away for Christmas.  I hope you have a wonderful time.  If you've already gone away by the time I've written this and happen to go through old posts when you get back; I hope you had a great Christmas.

I saw a nuthatch in my garden this morning.  I know they've made they're way as far north as Motherwell but I'm not sure they've made it as far north as where I am.  I'm roughly about 20 miles north of Motherwell, so you can imagine who delighted I was to see a nuthatch in my garden.  Didn't manage to get any pictures though.  Sorry.

    Goldeneagle788:  Welcome to the group!

Just had an idea.  Instead of going through all the posts since I last logged in.  Here's a picture from my garden, just a few minutes ago.

    Happy Wednesday everyone.

    Paul.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • auntie have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year to you.  Do take care.

  • Another great photo Alan.  I always watch Animal 24 7 and manage to catch the ospreys as well.  What lovely close ups of the chicks,

  • Heron77 so nice to see all these photos of birds.  My heart goes out to them at the moment with all the freezing and wet weather they have had to put up with of late.  My birds are eating it as fast as I can put it out.

  • Decision made (sort of): not setting out today - may try again tomorrow.  Now need to raid the freezer to eat!!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Afternoon everyone

Temperature seems to have risen above freezing here - I can see drips coming off the roof of the bird table! We still have a little lying snow - it has been the icy pavements that have been causing the most problems.

OG - sorry about your disrupted travel plans, but no point taking chances. Friends of mine were supposed to be driving to Edinburgh this morning, to bring back family for Christmas. They didn't go as it was reported the main A1 road was closed by snow north of the border.

Tiger - thanks for the palemale links - wonderful photographs!

To everyone else have a safe day!

Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

  • There is a woodpecker and about a dozen coal tits on the Abernethy feedercam right now.

  • Morning all: Awake inexplicably and unacceptably early this morning.  AQ: Do you mean you actually have people to help in stores? All our sales assistants seem to have gone the way of the dodo bird - now they're barricaded  behind Customer Service kiosks where bleary eyed shoppers line up.  Good luck with new recipe.  Do your spiders play octets?  Heron: Someone give those birds some little booties!  OG: Hope weather is better for tomorrow's departure.  Off back to sleep - I hope.
