Weekly Chat, Sunday, December 20 2009

Hi folks: Don't forget to check the last pages of the previous chat for links, comments, and all the usual twaddle.  :-)

  • That's nice Auntie, enjoy the books:) Stay warm and safe.

My mum gave me a nice candle for christmas which I thought looked nice.

  • Afternoon ...... Gary? And Auntie? Are the UK folks still getting over Christmas dinner?

Gary: Very nice candles - all white matches the snow outside. So Christmasy.  Auntie: I just read "The Private Patient" - do like Ruth Rendell;  just finished "The Monster in the Box." Have you read the books she writes under the nom de plume Barbara Vine?

High heavy cloud here today; just ate four cookies so the gym is a "must" today; It'll be really busy starting January 1 when everyone makes their new year's resolutions. but will be back to normal busy-ness come early March.  Hope all are well!

  • Good afternoon everyone.

Well, I have been putting together the bird-feeding station my OH got me (as well as Roy Dennis's book!) and then we put it outside and moved the feeders to it from the buddleia, where they have lived until now.  The birds didn't fancy a bath though...  It looks like the one in Alan P's pics.  He thought of it all by himself, so that's a lovely surprise.

Thawing a little today, only at zero degrees, but I don't think it's all going, so it will just get down to the ice underneath and then freeze again tonight.

    We're going cold turkey tonight...

  • Terry: The Orange County Hummingbird nest we were all looking at just a few weeks ago? Amazing!  Pete's Pond looked like a shopping mall on Christmas Eve last night California time (about 7 a.m. Botswana time - according to my cell phone's World Clock). Just packed with all kinds of creatures;  It's about 6 p.m.-ish there now now - lovely sunset with many birds on the wing.  Great gift from your OH!

  • Very sudden sunset at Pete's Pond, not used to that this far north.  Yes Annette, the hummers that we all watched leaving the nest early Dec.  If look at the dates lower down the screen they seem to have 4 or so clutches a year.  She seems to be building up the nest again.

  • Oh wow. Mrs H a glutton for punishment!  :-)

Off to shower and tackle Things I Shoulda Done Before Christmas.

  • TerryM: We have sudden sunsets here too - you can stand and watch the sun sink quite quickly into the ocean....

  • Evening all,

Just seen Phoebe the hummer on the nest.

Had a great day at daughter and son in laws house. Lots of high tech presents there for two 8 year old grandchildren but despite it all ended up sitting round dining room table playing bingo.

There has been a bit of a thaw here today on TI but pavements are still icy.
