Hi folks: Don't forget to check the last pages of the previous chat for links, comments, and all the usual twaddle. :-)
Morning all; must whizz off; back to read posts later.

Thanks, Alan, but I must have missed it.
Welcome to goldeneagle788 , who has just joined the Osprey Group today. I'm sure you will find lots to interest you on this friendly site.
Really cold here again, now, & no sign of the snow or ice thawing out . Sounds as if it might be a quieter day on Christmas Day, for weather, but on the other hand, not warm enough for a thaw.
Story in the paper the other day: Woman took her 4 year old son to Lapland; for a treat they went to have a reindeer ride- they sat in a sleigh & the reindeers trotted off round the snowy, scenic landscape, towing them along. After a few moments, the little boy excitedly asked "When are we going to take off?".....
This will be my last post before Christmas – unless the weather prevents us going tomorrow, or we set off and get turned back! Today we have had thaw, snow, thaw – it basically doesn’t know what to do! We are forecast above zero tonight, so we are hoping …
Alan – comparing birds with your list from this morning – similar here but we don’t get Magpies – we have Jackdaws instead! Never saw a Maggie for the first five years living in Scotland, then on one journey this autumn, saw two at top of Beattock and three as we entered Midlothian! Also been trying to get Robin photo – but it turned into a Blackbird! What I mean is, Robin was sat there, nicely posed and one of the dozen or so blackbirds just dived in and took its place!! Last time we had this many blackbirds, Sparrowhawk came to reduce the numbers – no sign of it yet this year.
DjoanS – thanks for Derby Peregrine link – hadn’t realised it was ongoing after the breeding season! Very interesting – showed it to OH but had to warn him it was a bit gory!
Diane – when I read your Dad’s comment about the haircut story, I had a picture of an elderly man in a rustic armchair, and heard his voice – have I watched too many 1940s movies?
Sue C – have a great time – and report back – with photos of Ospreys!?
TerryM – hadn’t realised your work was that near the Solway – I could wave across the water! So sorry about the septic tank – brings back memories!!!
dibnlib – enjoy your out and about trips this week if the weather allows – take care.
Gary – cats will be cats!!
Annette – don’t whiz about too much over Christmas!
Goldeneagle788 – adding my welcome!
Lindybird – love the Lapland story! Makes you wonder what we teach our children, but surely a bit of fantasy never did us any harm – or did it: just look at us now!!
On that note, to all the above and everybody else, enjoy your celebrations and be blessed this Christmas season.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Lindybird : Nice story and sorry you missed the peregrine. The diary on that site is well worth reading and the video clips of the 2009 season are good to watch also. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
enjoyed the storey Lindybird:)
Have a wonderful christmas OG, along with all your family. Travel safe
