Hi folks: Don't forget to check the last pages of the previous chat for links, comments, and all the usual twaddle. :-)
Annette, we have seen some reports on TV and in the papers about the health care reforms. Seems as if it is going to go on for some time! I looked at the viewer's photos and just seen it on TV. Feel very sorry for the people. That is a lot of snow and you wonder how even emergency vehicles would even get through.
Paul, just love your description of your lawn. Our grass hasn't peeped through yet. I have just walked out to the wheelie bin and finished up clinging to the house walls.
Hi everyone.
Thanks so much for all the kind wishes. We are fine here, only had 11 inches so it wasn't as bad as many places. I have spent the morning shoveling etc so that's why I wasn't around first thing. It certainly was bad up and down the east coast. We were very fortunate.
We were also out to our neighbours last night and just have to share this picture with you.
Hi everyone.A few more inches of snow has fallen locally, so everything looks quite seasonal under the street lights. In fact the snow seems to illuminate the place. Looking out I reckon about four inches has fallen in about an hour or two. Just glad I don't have to go anywhere tonight.Caerann: Glad where you are hasn't been too badly affected with snow. Hope you get over your cold soon. It's amazing how we always seem to catch colds and flus either in the festive season or during the summer.Brenda: Because of the snowfall, my front lawn now looks like a very pale-faced man who's just had a shave. I can totally relate to your description of puting the wheelie bin out. I'm just surprised in the last couple of days that I've not yet became a temporary inspector of paths. Thank goodness for the house walls, the garden sheds, and the washing poles.Stay safe everyone.Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Paul, that sounds like it is coming down hard. Take it easy
Caerann, sorry you have come down with a nasty cold. Not a great time of year to get it. Wrap up warm and have a nice peice of chocolate!!
Annette, enjoy the day and the gym!
Diane, that sounds a spooky scene for sure:)
AQ, what are some reporters doing. Don't they have any important to report on
Lindybird, love the tree, I take it , it is yours:)
Hope everyone else stays safe in this weather.
Oh Gary, they are beautiful. I would love to have them living next door to me.
11 Inches, in my book, is a lot of snow. Good to hear you are both fine though.
Thanks Brenda. They are lovely dogs and so friendly.
Lindybird, I think it was you ages ago talking about doing shepherds pie with mash on the bottom as well as top. Well, we are going for that tonight!!
Annette – thanks for starting off the new week again overnight – how quickly each one comes around! I do agree with everyone re the hot air in Copenhagen – and the morality of all the air travel, security and hype when they could be video conferencing. … … later (your Sunday morning) – running around again, I see! You seem to have boundless energy!
Patriciat – hope you got safely to and from the carol service. We decided not to set out to a Carol Concert although we had booked tickets – 32 miles, not sure what we might encounter on the way, or more so on the way home! Another short snow shower this morning, thaw midday, but probably black ice to follow.
Auntie – sorry to read that weather is giving you computer communication problems – hope you can keep in contact with us all, we love hearing from you.
Caerann – Chicago weather sounds a bit like ours, but with more wind. Sorry about your cold – keep warm if you can, and look after yourself. So pleased to see the “four legged creatures” – well done for researching them – lovely horses.
Gary – so glad to hear from you again – I was sure your power must be out because you are normally so regular appearing each morning! Pleased that you and Mrs Gary are alright – and what about Clover and the other one (sorry, can’t remember her name!)? Love the neighbour’s dogs – are they all related? Hope you enjoy the shepherd’s pie (is it shepherd’s or shepherds’ – I think somebody said “take four shepherds”, so I guess it’s the latter!)
Heron77 - stay safe in all that snow – and get rid of it before we come travelling through on Wednesday, please!!
Not so much chat going on today – I guess most folks are either sweeping snow, starting festivities or attending carol concerts and services – except those who are seeking out air-conditioning, of course! Keep safe everybody!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
" ... ... two collar doves, and a starling in a pear tree" - well, almost.
Got the two together at last and this is what appeared in the midst of them - and I've never seen a starling sit still so long! When this one flew off, another one landed and also sat ages. Eventually the starlings left and the doves could hardly believe they had really gone:
Yay! Gary, you're okay!!! I confess I was worried about you and your wife. I lived through the Blizzard of '78 here. We were snowed in without power, water, supplies, or contact with the outside world for many days, so I could empathize with all you folks on the east coast. Loved the doggie picture. Those are the same little guys who were in the puppy photo you posted! They are all grown up, and I recognize each of their little faces.
Evening all: Overcast here today, but still around 63F. Heron: From what I gathered from this blog, your stores started the Christmas season even earlier than here (but we have Thanksgiving late November and I think they hold off the big push until that's over with). Your pale-faced man must look like he has a face full of shaving cream by now. :-) Caerann! What's this? A cold? Not allowed right before Christmas. Drink lots. Just don't lose your sense of taste. Brenda: General feeling on the Sunday morning political talk shows is that Obama left too much to the Democrats in Congress, who fought among themselves; consequently, looks like we've got a diluted plan, with no single payer option (like the NHS in the UK). Gary: Don't have a heart attack shoveling - lovely dogs! Shepherd's Pie a good choice in weather like yours. OG: OH says I'm only happy when I'm moving. Nice birdie pix!
Typical California winter: Trees in the gym's parking lot are losing leaves and sprouting blossoms simultaneously!
