Well it has been one of those worrying days again. It started out fine with both Odin and EJ seemingly enjoying their reunion.
Then sometime during the morning it was noticed that EJ was no longer on the nest. This was not worrying to begin with but as the hours passed it certainly concerned the viewers on here.
The weather at Loch Garten has been generally foul today and has become even worse tonight with snow falling.
So is there a problem or not? Personally I do not think so as ospreys have been known to go walkies before (well maybe they flying equivalent of walkies whatever that is).
In 2005 EJ went AWOL for a whole nine days. It was thought that she was sulking because Henry had smashed her eggs.
I guess viewers will be tuning in at first light to see if she has returned.
Anyway I think it is a bit too early to panic!

Hi CIRRUS, yes I'm just going thru the vid.
IMAGICAT
I managed to get this capture of the 15.52 visitor....
Although I magnified the left leg, not sure of ring or not.
Hi,,just caught up and there doesn't seem to have been much happening because of the weather. One or two visits to the nest by someone and wonderful captures by a few of you of those visits. Also captures in the tree as well. Snow seems to be receding from the nest a little now but still pretty cold etc up there. Glad Richard posted a blog to reassure everybody - this can be normal behaviour with ospreys apparently - so good news all round.
Can't see anyone in the tree at present but they are probably around. Above, nest at present, trying to rain now.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Thanks for the vids from Moffer and Scylla, Always difficult to tell who it is when they have their back to you. I see that the still pic from the cam is much better than what we see on the live. cam, such a difference.
Signing off for a while as nothing happening, back tonight
Morning everyone and thanks to all for pix and comments - 13 pages already! Eeek. Good to know all is well at the nest; very good of Richard to reassure us all.
Off to garden; back later
Great to see the snow disappearing and that all is ok.
Taking advantage of this quiet time to catch up with a few badly neglected chores
ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
Sorry but I didn't get the 15.52 fly-in, I was comparing views from RSPB and Carnyx and otherwise messing around - complacently thinking nothing was happening :-( Then we got another fault and most of what I did have wouldn't play:
I seem to remember that it's more comfortable for ospreys to perch on a branch than to stand on a nest. If that's correct, they could be making the best of things before eggs and then chicks require a presence on the nest.
Maybe EJ didn't fish for herself when Blue was there to test whether he would provide and not just take before ' deciding' whether to lay her eggs. With Odin she knows he'll bring masses of fish and maybe just wanted a change of scenery.
Hi everyone.
Thanks for all the updates, pics, vids etc. At least the snow looks to have melted slightly and we can see more of the nest. Hopefully it'll vanish quickly and Odin and EJ can get on with things in peace.
