DAILY UPDATE (LG Nest) Sunday 1st April 2012

I think I might go to bed right after this and stay in bed until noon today for some reason :)

BTW WHITE RABBITS!

Well, I have predicted Odin's return today, along with others. Will we be right? Watch this space!

  • I've been on my own all day, hubby has been at work, but am I glad he has, I have been able to watch all this excitement, as it unfolded, and what a day, but how sad am I, to have just reread the posts again, and watched the videos several time of the great ones return.

My hubby thinks I've gone mad anyway, when he came home last week after EJ arrived, I said, oh guess what breaking news EJ has come home, he just gives me that totally disinterested look, so I wont bother telling him today's events, his loss, just need to explain why I've done not very much all day, but I am sure you will all back me up

Thank you moffer and Scylla for the videos,

The biggest thanks go to these beautiful birds who unknowingly let us into their lives.

So looking forward now, to see what happens next.

Hubby will be home soon, so I'm off now see you tomorrow x

The more you rush, the longer it takes

  • Thanks moffer for the information.  It is good that Roy  chose the  tree for the new  nest that XD had been bringing  branches to in   trying  to rebuild a nest

    Formerly known as Barbara Jean

  • Thanks Moffer, let us hope it all works out OK. I am feeling happy for the little chappy now!! :-)

If nothing goes right, go left! :-)

  • I am not sure if any of any of you have any knowledge of horse breeding. Well as I understand it there is such a thing as a warm up stallion. Now this stallion is supposed to get the mare in the mood for the real stallion. Of course the warm up stallion is not actually get a chance to father any foals, well not usually anyway, but sometimes they get lucky.

If seems that poor old Blue XD was a sort of warm up stallion with benefits! :)   His luck certainly ran out on All Fools Day 2012.

Of course when talking of stallions the best of the best was Northern Dancer a legendary horse that won the 1964 Kentucky Derby. His blood line is to be found a large number of thoroughbred horses today. What was interesting is that he became a sire of sires.

I wonder if Odin will become a sire of sires?

  • Ellieloo, you seem to have the same probs as me. My hubby has no interest either and if I say EJ is back, he says "I haven't got to listen to all of this again?" :-(

If nothing goes right, go left! :-)

  • Just a quick look in and so glad I did.  ChloeB that is just hilarious and a good idea to have a thread for cartoons.

moffer  thanks for link to Roy Dennis site, hope XD has winged his way there and can settle down with his mate now.

What a wonderful day it has been and how much things have changed in such a short time.

Goodnight all and many thanks for all the contributons.

  • An evening mating - Odin comes to the nest, EJ follows, Odin does a quick flyaround and lands on EJ:

Great to see that Roy Dennis has set up a nest for XD.  I'm not going to say he was shabbily treated, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and was far too late sorting himself out on the fishing-for-EJ front.  Prayers for him to reinstate himself at his old home.

  • Or was he in exactly the right place at the right time Scylla? - I have just posted a question on the Q&A thread.

Some people think Ospreys are a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.

  • Just got back from our week in Nethy and two visits to LG today.  Tried to send you news of all that was happening this morning but after typing it all in my post wouldn't send!  It was so frustrating!!  Anyway we called back in this afternoon and as you now all know Odin is back.  When we arrived, just after 10.00, there was great excitement  as Odin and blue XD were battling it out in the sky high above us and EJ was taking it all in her stride.  In the afternoon we arrived just after Odin brought her a fish (which seemingly she had demanded) and saw his first failed attempt to mate.  Poor guy had had a busy morning!  It was fantastic to be there and watch all this happening, I'm so glad he's back.

  • Pam you were so lucky to see this drama unfold, we could see something was going on as EJ was looking up but with no sound had no idea what was going on.  Great to have Odin  back though.
