Hi everyone. If you didn't check the last few pages of the previous week, it was very busy. I'm going to catch up all the latest posts after dinner.
Poppy is lovely, Gary - she looks as if she enjoys it. We didn't have a bell which 'rang', that's a new one for me. We did make lots of paper chains in the 1950's/60's, I think it was a ploy to keep the children busy whilst Mum did the preparations. Also we put real sprigs of holly behind the pictures etc., which is a fashion which has now come back again. I have lots of pretend holly & various sprigs of things which look Christmassy on all the pictures, & sprays of artificial 'tree' with berries (as big as grapes!) over the mirrors. Various figures dotted around the house include a glass snowman, a metal reindeer, & a scandinavian ceramic Father Christmas. It is a bit of a grotto when I get carried away! but then I love Christmas, always have. Just a pity that that Christmas Spirit which seems to spread around a little for the season, doesn't always last very long, we all go back to our old ways of griping & moaning, when really we have lots to be thankful for. Will stop my rant now!
Alan: Glad Lady P returned safe & sound. Your garden looks pretty in the snow.
Margobird: Sorry to hear about your trip- maybe you can go later?
Was fascinated by the Easter 'Bilbies' - never heard of those. the things you learn on this site....
Annette, that translation " Ours is allways oaths to Paris" OMG LOL these online translation thingies LOL. I think we better say " We`ll allways have Loch Garten"
my photos in flickr
Alan, I think that our colds are something that belongs to our winter but that doesn`t mean one has to love them LOL. And "the air" is different here not being surrounded by sea. I think these temps would feel way worse in UK.
Auntie: Translation a fright!! Think Loch Garten substitute very good (even if not as romantic as Bogey and Ingrid!) Lindybird: Holly sprigs above pictures - ah yes. Really must get going...
Must sign out now to watch nature documentary telling about Yellowstone from telly.
Have a good Saturday each and everyone!
Hope you enjoy the TV documentary, auntie. If its the same one we had here in the summertime, its well worth watching with some great photography.
Must go myself, now, I'm supposed to be doing all sorts of things......
KEEP WARM EVERYONE!!! (except for AQ & Wattle, of course)
I must admit to remembering the twisted crepe paper. Thought it was fantastic when we were able to buy 'ready made decorations' and the folding bells but don't recall us having a musical one. I am sure that must mean I had a deprived childhood. (sob)
Gary ,the amount of snow in your Mum's garden looks just about the same as here. Poppy looks adorable.
Paul, keep the jokes coming. I have spent the day doing the dreaded housework and I don't find that funny at all.
Great pictures on the Pale Male site again today. The ones at the bottom show how a red tailed hawk can regrow its beak. See http://site.palemale.com/composite-december1809 or

Lindybird : I had better whisper in case your OH might hear :FULHAM 3 MAN U 0.
More importantly Dundee beat Morton 3-1 to move 7 points clear at the top of the Scottish first division.
FAB
WHISPER....... I know, Alan, I just saw the results on BBC & OH is coming back from watching the match on Sky TV at the Bowling Club, I had better be kind..... At least he will be able to smell the lovely pong of stew cooking on the stove when he gets in. Dundee are doing well, although I must admit (whispering again... I don't usually follow the Scottish results.)
Hope you don't all get more snow tonight, it sounds as if its more up our way this time, & we never get snowed in here unless there is an Ice Age.
