Weekly Chat, Sunday December 13, 2009

Hi everyone. If you didn't check the last few pages of the previous week, it was very busy. I'm going to catch up all the latest posts after dinner.

  • Sandy : Sounds good to me as the last video clip I have of Mallachie is on the 27th August.

  • I can't see any of the latest pictures. Is it just me?

Auntie, still VERY cold. That kneecap sounds extremely painful.

Hi Paul and everyone else. Survived my trip to the Mall and, unfortunately, no funny stories to relate:(

  • Gary : There is some sort of technical problem as pictures were displayed ok earlier.

  • Thanks Alan, as long as it isn't me.

  • Alan – thanks for link to Store Mosse – great to see the eagles there.  Just watched “One Man and his Dog” – almost as good as it used to be!  I’m sure sheep are worse behaved these days!  Looks as if pigeon has sat on unsupported edge of dish before!…but not as big as Fattest Pigeon Ever!!!

Lindybird and others – oh dear, dove in a dish received so many comments I have to confess that OH took that one!!

Margobird - enjoy your trip to the big smoke –I suppose I shouldn’t call it that any more, afraid that one dates from my childhood!

GeorgeG – pleased your mission to E’burgh was successful.

DjoanS – quite wintry showers here today, stingingly cold on the skin – suppose I would call it “light sleet”! – but didn’t actually get wet when shopping.  Used to love York – have a good day there.

Oh, Annette – “rushing” again I see!!  Do let us know when your daughter has a date for her op.

Auntie – I like that saying about “no bad weather, only wrong clothes”.  That was a nasty fall you had at work – has it left you with any permanent damage to the knee?

Sandy – I love the expression “bimbling about” for Mallachie – just hope she is still bimbling around West Africa!

Thanks for picture reminders of Greedy Garten and Mild Mallachie.  So good we also have Didier’s pictures of Mallachie en France 7th September.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • This may be of interest to some of you re the earthquake on Mull the other day:

  • Auntie – I am busy packing up some sunshine and heat for you – we have too much. Maybe I should bring the package myself LOL and find out what it is like to be really cold!!! Overnight Adelaide had minimum 21 C, already by 7.30 am it was 28 and we expect 39 max. As I said we have heat to spare. Cool change promised tonight so I hope tomorrow will only be 26 or so. I find the heat very tiring and I still have 2½ presents to get.

Gary – Tardy Dau finally sent Xmas lists and I had to laugh at future-son-in-law’s. His includes large oven trays & vegie peeler!!!!!! Now I am wondering what Dau has in her kitchen cupboard!!!!! On second thoughts, lucky Daus both have men who cook.

Wrapping presents. Last year Dau#2 gave Himself a birdbath for Xmas. She tied a ribbon around the base and put it under The Tree, leaving the bowl in the boot of her car until hand-over time. Needless to say, no-one guessed what the base was for.

Annette – I didn’t have friends until I went to High School. Didn’t miss what I didn’t know about. I played by myself mostly as the other 4 sisters paired off, being closer in age. I read a lot, and some more. LOL The only equine we had was a Shetland pony called Tiny. A big fat roly-poly pony who had nasty big yellow teeth that liked to nip scaredy-cats like me. My young sister did acrobatics on his back – but that was later and perhaps he mellowed in his old age.

I am sure Mallachie is laughing up her wing, having got rid of her extra baggage.  Do take care all who are in icy parts of the world.

  • AQ, that is funny, the lists. I can say, hand on heart, I have never asked for a veggie peeler for a present!! Enjoyed the story about the pony as well. Equine friends are fine as long as they are well behaved.

Hope all the wedding preps are continuing well,

Stay cool, or as cool as you can.

Sorry to hear you are so hot again – guess that means plenty of visits to the archives! Lovely thought of Mallachie “laughing up her wing” at getting rid of her rucksack!

  • I think the wedding preps are taking a backseat for the Xmas preps. At least I haven't heard any updates recently. I'm off to use the Library's a/c today. Please, please, please can we have a/c buses on our route? These buses transport to & fro the airport. Arriving travellers must think they have come to some hick town when they get on an airport bus - no a/c, hardly any space for luggage.
