I guess that Blue XD is now set to be part of Loch Garten History. He deserves a page by himself.
Do people have data on his exact arrival time and some videos and pictures.

There is still confusion as to his identity but he is said to be the long term partner of Green J or otherwise known as S06
So Blue/White XD may be S18 but there are certain problems with that.
S06 and S18 also parented a chick translocated to Rutland viz. T04

Here is my " non expert" logic
Blue must have favorite fishing spots that are in proximity to his old nest. Ospreys have magnificent eye sight so when Roy repairs his nest he may see it has been fixed.
According to Roy he has mated with Green J for years. If she returns he may decided to go back to what he knows and forget about EJ.
If Odin returns then who fathered EJ's chicks will be in question and debated for years to come LOL

XD must be some good in the fishing department. Otherwise he could not have raised so many chicks.
Having just found this thread, there's some very interesting information. Thanks particularly to Tiger for the reference to 'Life of Ospreys' which I've just looked up. I will now research S18 as it seems likely he is actually blue XD, although it is strange that a reference hasn't been found to his re-ringing. Has anyone contacted Roy Dennis on the issue yet?
