I guess that Blue XD is now set to be part of Loch Garten History. He deserves a page by himself.
Do people have data on his exact arrival time and some videos and pictures.
There has been a blog regarding him here on 28 Mar 2012 5:56 PM
There is still confusion as to his identity but he is said to be the long term partner of Green J or otherwise known as S06
So Blue/White XD may be S18 but there are certain problems with that.
S06 and S18 also parented a chick translocated to Rutland viz. T04
I wrote about Green J here on 3 March 2012

It has been suggested that the new male looks a bit like Blue XD.
deveronside said:That's interesting. I was thinking he looked a bit like Garten. I know that deciding gender is difficult (based on Roy Dennis' admission that he thought Henry was female given his weight and length of wing when he ringed him) and, yes, I know we were told that Garten was female. The 2010 young were considered 'probably' male from afar. So, I wonder what would suggest that this young osprey looks like Blue XD?
Ah but Garten also had a white Darvic ring on left leg and a BTO ring on right leg.
I think the bird being talked about here was the unringed orange chested male. Not very likely though as I am pretty certain that all of Blue XD's chicks would be ringed.
It has been suggested that the blue ringed male might be blue XD himself but I do not think anyone has reported that the blue ringed bird carried a tracker.
Thanks, Tiger. I am getting my intruders muddled up. I was thinking about the EJ lookalike. While I'm on my flight of fancy, though, I suppose that Garten could have returned to the UK in 2011 and had young every or any year since then. It's very hard to spot a specific osprey. I don't think EJ has ever been spotted anywhere but the Loch Garten nest and her fishing grounds - and she's a very distinctive osprey.

Yes Garten should have returned in 2011. It was there was ever an osprey that was going to return it was Garten. Such a feisty young bird.
Who knows she may be out there somewhere. After all White 14 from Bassenthwaite is roving around Sweden.
After all Red TA was not found (or at least reported) for 16 years
After all 07(97) and 11(98) were not reported until they bred in Wales in 2004. 08(01) was first reported in 2006 when he tangled in nets at a fish pond. He first returned to Rutland later that summer.
