See that Annette has been too busy perhaps, to start a new week, so I'm doing the honours. Rather wet in this part of the world this morning, so doing lots of tidying & Christmas preparing stuff.
Auntie – your English really is so good - and how many of the rest of us could speak Finnish?!! I had never heard of the warming cable for car engines – sounds a very useful device. We have had sharp frosts here yesterday and today, but the sun raises the temperature above freezing during the day.
Garden Birds are feeling happier today - no workmen to annoy them, and OH has cleaned the kitchen window and refitted the feeders there as well as tidying up around the decking so things are where they expect them to be!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hi OG! I`m sure that your garden birds must have been wondering if things would ever get normal again during all that workmen activities :) and they must be thrilled now that their "restaurant" is back in business

Morning/Evening all: Another nice gray and misty day with rain and even thunder (a rarity here) forecast . Off to see daughter and probably out for breakfast again. We could've bought the place we've eaten there so often, but their breakfasts are the best and they are a genuinely happy group, so a double pleasure. Our garden birds - at least the little ones - had no trouble finding the new location of the feeder under the patio umbrella, but haven't seen the mourning doves there. Maybe it's too confined.... Another bird hit yesterday, but no apparent injury since he/she got up and flew right off (amazing equilibriums these creatures - a bash like that would've had me flat out for who know how long).
Tiger: Good grief, you'v e gone above and beyond and them some! I'll have to check our local sunrise/set times and see if the same is true for our long/latitude - when I get a minute. Sigh. So many things to Google, so little time... Auntie: I had a friend who lived in Alaska and she had to plug her car in (not an electric car; plain old gas engine) to make sure it started in the mornings.
Off to get organized - big hallo to everyone else. Have put a sticky on my computer reminding me to start new thread tonight. Take care all.
Afternoon all haven't blogged for a while but have been keeping up to date although I haven't had much to say as I think I'm like all of us we are a bit sick of the type of weather we have been having here we have been having quite a bit of fog which does not make it very good for driving. Thursday I had a male cousins night although there is only four of us and it it was my turn to be host and I made a clootie dumpling to remind us of an time when we used to visit all our aunties during the New Year period and that was always one of the specialities. Last night I was invited out by the people I used to work with so I will have to go easy on the food and drink for one or two days to get my system back into eating normal food.
Maureen I was sorry to read about your problems but it is amazing what keeping a positive attitude can do as the mind is a very complex organ and by keeping positive it can sometimes work miracles.
I would like to say thank you to everyone who has posted pictures and links to other sites as during these early dark evenings it helps to put in the time. Everyone in the nothern hemisphere keep warm and I hope those in the southern hemisphere don't get unbearably warm

Goerge g...thank you for your kind words, as I said earlier...POSITIVE is now my mantra.

Tiger Signature
Tiger - love the Palemale and Lola pictures - but especially those waxwings bottom of the page!!!
GeorgeG - welcome back. Been practising your catering skills again I see!
Maureen/Hilary - flowers for you:
Namaqualand daisies at the Eden Project.
Tiger: Well, what amazing, wonderful pictures on the palemale site... I've not visited it lately but do love to pop in now & then as the photos are out of this world. The photographer must be very observant & spend some time searching for the birds to get such pics.
Maureen: So very sorry to hear your news. As others have said, you have many many friends on here to keep you company when/if you get low. Hope you can get to grips with the new computer, its like driving a new car, you can't find all the knobs & gears!
auntie: Very interesting to hear about your car 'cable' system: we have nothing like it here.
Annette: Pleased to hear you got the Christmas tree sorted. Plenty else to do this time of year without doing things twice! Those breakfasts sound wonderful, must pop over sometime to sample one...
Sunny here today, have been to visit Husbands Ancient Auntie, who is like a lot of her generation, being stoic about her various ailments & happy to hear what all the young people are doing in the family.
Must have overlapped with you OG, what beautiful daisies.
