See that Annette has been too busy perhaps, to start a new week, so I'm doing the honours. Rather wet in this part of the world this morning, so doing lots of tidying & Christmas preparing stuff.
Thanks Tiger.....positive thinking shall be my mantra from now on.

Maureen, it's great to have you back.
My eyebrows were raised as I read that you have had pneumonia, the next paragraph made my jaw hit the floor. So sorry to hear this shocking news, it puts every other thing written here in perspective. Really great to know that you intend to fight this and are ok at the moment. I don't like to speak for others but I'm convinced that all your friends here are behind you 100%.

Maureen, it is so lovely to hear from you and of course,I am so sincerely sorry to hear your news but you are right, you must stay positive. A friend of ours has been told the same after chemo failed, but he has now been offered a place on a trial chemo at a London hospital. Maybe you should start asking more questions and find out what is available for you. I will try and find out what I can this end,
Hi Maureen.
Like others have said, so sorry about your news. Great to see your attitude and if we can help in any small way please just say the word. Hopefully our whitterings may help a tiny bit.
Great big HUG winging it's way accross the atlantic for you:)
Patriciat, thanks for the news about the eagle. How exciting. Lets hope for a poitive outcome.
Great clock Tiger
OG, just when you think it is all sorted! Glad the wet room is good and sounds perfect. I don't have a dog but our neighbours have 3 goldern labs and I was getting their christmas presents:)
Gary - sorry, I assumed you had a dog because you were buying treats in the doggie shop! How kind you are, buying pressies for the neighbours' dogs!
Maureen - I was so pleased to find you are back - it's been a long time! So sorry that the chest infection worsened - and then the news about the cancer! You must have thought you'd already endured enough, but your posiitive attitude will help you through - and your FRIENDS on these pages too! Keep strong in your mind, and your mind will help your body.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Welcome back Maureen. Keep thinking positive. I wish you well in your battle as I'm sure the bird bloggers do too.
The New Holland honeyeater is rather an aggressive little bird (photo on page 15). Years ago they saw off the sweet little greenish grey honeyeaters (white-plumed h, I think they're called) - we don't see any of them any more in our backyard.
I hate music in stores. It drives me to grab what is necessary and escape without browsing. Annette – Back in the old days before I learnt to Google, I’m sure I had more time. LOL One thing leads to another on the internet, doesn’t it. Lindybird - I think everyone is obsessed with weather. We grumble about the heat and lack of rain.
Just been down to local library's book sale. Disappointing to see the books they have culled but I snaffled a few for my collection. <sigh> My back room is threatening to secede from the house !!!!!! One book will do nicely for grand-dau's birthday in Feb.
For Maureen
Evening/Morning all: Good grief: I have one down (sleeveless) vest; one non-rain-repelling raincoat; one fleece zip up jacket and that's it. Oh and a navy blue wool blazer that eons old but still looks classic but which I rarely wear. Managed to easily dismantle Christmas tree base to find nicely put together electrical bits plus a burned out bulb that I was able to replace with no hassle at local hardware store - and voila - let there be (Christmas tree) lights! Not bad for a cheapy little tree that I've had almost 10 years (oh, bought it at Target, of course!). Got package off to sister and family in the UK, so can rest easy now the important stuff is in the mail.
Alan: Thanks for concluding the deer/caribou/elk/moose conundrum with a nice photo! Ditto Gary's congrats on the count down clock, but could you please post an updated screen shot every minute or so to keep us up to date? (just kidding!). Patriciat: Oh dear, bad news about your reindeer (maybe rejoin under an assumed name?) :-) Would be a nice b'day gift if EJ shows up on schedule! OG: I remember when our bathrooms were redone - was so wonderful to be in a shiney new sparkling shower where everything worked. Enjoy! Totally agree re need for trade schools and apprenticeships. And oh how true about Googling; I could lose myself for hours clicking through pages and finding ever more interesting stuff. Maureen: I was wondering where you'd gone. First off: Would you rather be called Maureen or HilaryH? And oh dear - what dreary news, but do know that we will all be sending good vibes and whatever else it takes to help you fight this, including useful advice such as that offered by BrendaH re drug trials! Please do let us know if there's anything we can do of a practical or even silly nature that would be helpful. Giant hug now en route to you! AQ: Re store music, I read that stores play music aimed at their target audience, which probably explains the strange stuff that was playing at the Nike store the other day. When it's too awful, I leave without buying anything. Oh, forget to mention, saw Mel Gibson at the New Balance outlet, presumably with one of his sons. Couldn't figure out why I couldn't get the salesgirl's attention, then I saw who she was helping. Just another hazard of living in SoCal. :-) What a lovely rose for Maureen! Which one is it?
