Weekly Chat, 6th December 2009

See that Annette has been too busy perhaps, to start a new week, so I'm doing the honours. Rather wet in this part of the world this morning, so doing lots of tidying & Christmas preparing stuff.

  • As requested Hamish after grooming. I could not get him to pose so you can see th feathers and skirt so this is the best I can do:

  • Thanks Alan. He looks very handsome.

Is that his house? Very nice.

  • Gary : yes he has his own 6 x 4 shed fully carpeted with fresh water and regular food supplied and direct access to a run at the side of the house.

  • Hello everyone. Just a quick shuftie here today (shuftie being a word learnt here, hopefully using it correctly)

Thanks for the shepherd's pie recipes, I was already wondering should one use shepherds or Shepherds.... no seriously talking, we do have similar dish here, but it doesn't have such a nice name, just meat-potatoe-casserole but the more common version her is to put the potatoes in sliced not mashed.

Have a good Tuesday everyone back tomorrow.

  • Very nice Alan, I know where to go when I need a "dog house"..

Auntie, hi , and perfect use of the word "shufftie":)

  • Margobird.  My garden is a swamp too - and it's raining again!  In November we had 190% of the average for the month, so webbed feet may be necessary soon.

  • Alan, thanks for the picture of Hamish - he looks very smart.  Just one thing, is his expression 'Look how smart I am after my trim' or 'Why did you let them do this to me?'  I'm glad Border Collies don't need trimming - sure some of mine would bite the groomer - Nell already tries it with me when I produce the Furminator (wonderful grooming tool)!

  • "All mod cons" Hamish!!!  His own little 'pad'!  FAB  Alan.  He looks smart, & probably enjoys all the attention.

patriciat:  Do you recommend the Furminator then?  I wondered if they really worked- our dog doesn't mind being combed but hates it at the tail end, & unfortunately that's where he gets in a knot the most.

Our Christmas lights are up on the front hedge, but we're only half done, as later will put icicles on the house. Going out into the street later when its properly dark to inspect the overall effect.

  • Good Morning//Day to all:

Snow here, not too much in the city proper just up to 4 in/10cm expected but up to nearly a foot/ 30 cm predicted in northern parts of Illinois. It will be cold here now though with lows near to 5f/-15c and high winds. Brrrrrr!

Thanks to Gary, Lindybird, dibnlib and Alan for all the wonderful photos which I enjoyed seeing very much.

Annette: I send my best to you and your daughter.

Diane: Do you get to escape the worst of this storm system coming through? I heard that the snow belt in northern Indiana is supposed to be spared but not sure what's happening in your part of the state.

    Happy Tisdag to everyone!

  • Thanks, Caerann.  Sounds cold there, don't know why I complain sometimes here, as its nothing like. At least in a city you don't usually get as much snow settling & blocking the roads etc. Do take care, though, its dangerous stuff.

also, Margobird, yes its been very wet indeed here, too, & I went out in my slippers this morning to feed the garden birds, which is when I thought of you!!  Please take care & don't get any more bruises for Christmas.
