This Topic has been set up to follow the Spring 2012 migration, and summer activities, of satellite tracked ospreys, excluding Rothes and Tore from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread.
It replaces this earlier thread, Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Aug 2011 - Feb 2012.
I don't really expect to have to ask. It has been 10 days now since the last update - I don't think they'll leave us wondering for another week.
I was not very happy about the area where Dulas was living NE of Quebo as that was where Spey went missing. It would have been better if Dulas had stayed nearer Nimrod s wintering area near the mouth of the Rio Cacine. One thing we are learning from the satellite tracked birds is where the danger areas are. It is definately safer for a young osprey to be nearer the coast.

I have been waiting for Dyfi to comment on Dulas.
So have I Alan. I wasn't going to comment further until official confirmation from DOP, but the lack of recent updates appears confirmation in itself.
And now . . . official confirmation.
So very sad indeed. Having been there when Einion hatched and Dulas started to hatch makes it even more poignant.

Very sad news about Dulas.

No words can express my sorrow at this. I really hoped that the two brothers would survive. I have been to Kenya and Tanzania and I know that Africa is a harsh country and the west I would think even harsher for wildlife. Our tour leader aptly commented on our concerns for wildlife and the people ' this is Africa - nothing is easy - each day is a fight for existence'. How true. Hopefully Einion will remain safe to return - thats all anyone can hope for.
Yes indeed Tempo, we must never lose sight of the fact that the people who live there are struggling to survive too. A precarious balance of life and death for all species, including humans.
Guinea Bissau seems to be the main danger area for young ospreys with Nethy, Spey, Tore and Dulas all missing in action there. Not to mention Rothes and adults Talisman and Nimrod who has not been seen in Scotland this year.
