This Topic has been set up to follow the Spring 2012 migration, and summer activities, of satellite tracked ospreys, excluding Rothes and Tore from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread.
It replaces this earlier thread, Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Aug 2011 - Feb 2012.

Yes Tempo Rothiemurchus flew straight across the bay of Biscay from UK to northern Spain on his first migration south in 2009, and last year nearly visited Lanzarote on his way back to his wintering grounds. Let's hope this migration is rather more straightforward - but that does not appear to be his style.
Lets hope so and that it will be a safe one for him. Hoping for some sighting of Rothes also. Thank you AG

Today's update from Roy D on Rothiemurchus is under the headline "Making Poor Progress"
"17 April 2012
Today he did not set off until nearly 1000GMT and headed east and then NE, and the last signal of the batch at 1400GMT showed he had flown 70kms and was flying NNE at 49km/hr at 710 metres altitude. The wind is moderate northerly which cannot be helping."
The maps here show the zig-zag route he has flown on the last few days.
A better migration for Rothiemurchus here
Thanks Alan. I will be happier when Rothie reaches the opportunity to fish
