This Topic has been set up to follow the Spring 2012 migration, and summer activities, of satellite tracked ospreys, excluding Rothes and Tore from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread.
It replaces this earlier thread, Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Aug 2011 - Feb 2012.
Thanks SueC . I thought that Dulas may settle in Nimrods area now that the adults are on their way home as it looks like prime osprey real estate there but he keeps going back to the NE of Quebo.
Jukka latest. Translation courtesy of Google:
22.3. 8 am (GMT), Jukka was still stopped 11 km away overnight, but soon after noon it was transferred from Nigeria to Niger. His stopover place was located 28 km east of Zinder, Niger's second largest city. During the day amounted to 290 kilometers. 23.3. The first location was a place to stay outside again at 8, but now, Jukka was already on the fly 55 km / h and 524 meters above sea level. At 14, he was flying 67 km / h at an altitude of 779 meters, just 7 km away from the point at which it surpassed 68 km / h and 827 meters above 26/03/2010 at 14! At 20 by Jukka had progressed to 400 km. 24.3. Jukka had a restless night. At 2 o'clock came to 3.5 km at 23 of the positioning and the 5 o'clock location was 5.5 km to reach at 2's positioning. Transitions are real and can not be due to possible inaccuracy of the tracking points. After 5 o'clock, Jukka broke the journey of 360 km and crossed the Algerian border in the evening. Up to now, springs 2010, 2011 and 2012 routes have walked side by side, up to about 80 kilometers from plates following the lane, but that is where the 2011 route koukkasi more than others to the east.
Kawartha Lakes osprey 54706 making steady progress although I am a bit dubious about a couple of the GPS locations on the 15th and 24th March:
Jukka has a Facebook page.
