Hi All,tag
I was working at my Lochan this afternoon and an Osprey came right over my head, i could not tell if he was ringed, by had no radio tag, will be up early tomorrow to have a look around and take the camera, he flew from the Loch Garten direction and carried on to the souh of Aviemore.
Thanks All.
Gordon.
Oh, that is great Speyghillie, can't wait to see your pic of it! :-)
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
My goodness that is early and more snow forecast up here over the coming days as well....
In all the years i worked at Rothiemurchus i have never seen an Osprey so early but it was there 100% .
Thanks Gordon.
So the report of a Osprey flying near the Wrekin in Shropshire a week ago might have been true.
Hope your early arrival puts on a show for you in the coming mornings :)
A very old Shropshire Lad.
I was just about to ask you if that is the earliest you have seen one, Gordon. Thanks for letting us know.
ChrisS Alan Petrie also said Aberfoyle had tweeted that an Osprey had been seen in the area but nothng since from Aberfoyle so it must have moved on. The tweet was 10 days ago but nothing since.
It will be really interesting to know if you see it again Gordon, or if its perhaps a Scandinavian bird passing through.
Some people think Ospreys are a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.
Emma Rawling at LOTL has also tweeted today:
"Unconfirmed reports of an osprey at a known nest site in Perthshire- could this be the first osprey in Scotland this year? Eyes to the skies"
Hi All,
I will be out early in the morning and report back, i am sure this Osprey knows the area very well, as it followed a path i often watched birds do last summer.
Thanks Gordon for the exciting news,
it's very early to be seeing them though !!!!
i look forward to tomorrow, i hope you see it again
