Starting things off this week with a reminder to check the last of the posts for the week of the 15th so you don't miss any of the excellent information being shared. I hope this week we'll have check-ins from Cirrus, George G and some others who have been quiet but to whom I'm sure we all send our good wishes.
Happy Sunday Everyone!
Happy thanksgiving to Annette, Diane and others reading this in the US. I feel a fraud joining in really but am going to do so anyway!! It is a lovely holiday but, like you say Lindybird, this and tomorrow signals the start of the christmas run in. Still, not thinking about that today.
Diane, so glad your dad is thinking about food. That must mean he is feeling a little better. Enjoy and enjoy also your pizza! Whatever works I say.
OG, hope the interview goes well for your son.
Auntie, great to see you, even if you are just popping in and out.
Alan, good luck with teh shopping mission.
Sorry, I can't remember who said it but loved the thought of the dog hair being claimed as from Santa's reindeer LOL
Have good days everyone and catch up later
Alan have just been catching up with things and had a look at the link you gave to the Forres paper. Will have to ask my daughter in law about that as she is a very keen bird watcher and has an area that she goes to every so often to count the number of birds and species that she sees. I have been told that we are going to Elgin on Saturday so she might take me to where the bird was seen but probably it won't be there now. A belated thanksgiving greetings to all in the USof A.

Morning all: Thanks for good wishes and the same to everyone here - and there. Nice and sunny (but please can we have clouds at least for Christmas Day!?)
George: Not belated wishes at all as it's only 7:30 a.m.ish here.
Auntie: Please sort out your priorities and spend more time with us! :-)
Lindybird: That McCartney book sounds interesting. I've just started The Remains of the Day.
See our OC friends are still squished in their tiny nest - and there's Mom; she doesn't stick around a lot - in with one feed then quickly off to find more. It's bad having a webcam that's on the same time zone because you can get distracted all day long, as I'm sure all you Loch Garten folks know.
I arrived in the States just as the Beatles hit it big here (back in '63) and everywhere I went was greeted by "Do you know the Beatles?" as if England were so small we all knew each other!
Did a lot of preparation for today last night, so no last minute trying to figure out where the dishes are and which ones to put the broccoli, brussels sprouts, in etc. Even got the table set, though we may migrate to the living room.... My daughter typically arrives stressed out so will hand her a Mimosa (Buck's Fizz) as soon as she walks in the door, which usually settles her down pretty quick! I suspect they'll also arrive with at least one load of laundry, not to mention big silly dog who will freak out cat, pee in the potted plants, and then poop in various places around the garden. So maybe a Mimosa for me too! Hubby will be charming for a while then go find something to do in the garage/garden to escape the natter. Can we blame him? :-)
Take care all!
Annette, sounds a wonderful family time and quite typical may I say (at least the men sneaking off):) Enjoy

Sat track schedule Spring 2014
LG 7 days; RW & SWT nil; LDOP varies
Got new cleaner via agency - seems promising following first visit today.
Son is staying overnight on the Ayrshire coast so won't see him on return jurney - interview is scheduled to be happening right now. He may phone soon. Only found one thing he left behind this time - shoe cleaning brushes - seeing him next week so can hand them over then.
Got to pack soon - going to Edinburgh tomorrow for one night. Taking the student grandsons and one girlfriend out to dinner.
Discussed with OH money for electricity supply at LG - realised how liitle £7k is when divided between us all! Sure we can do it!!
Our garden birds all seem to be fully returned to normal after the recent weather. All followed the usual breakfast pattern of visits. Later the pied wagtail enjoyed marching about on the decking - beautifuly marked despite being monochrome.
Feeling semi-detached this evening - gave in and took painkillers for a really painful back - whatever I did to it six months ago, I have succeeded in doing it again - ouch!!! At least the seats in the car have good lumbar support for tomorrow's journey.
I think I am rabbiting on, so will shut up now!!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Have a great trip OG, hope it goes well.
Just about to tuck into dinner so catch up later
OG: That back sounds painful- it seems that once you have a back problem, it can crop up again later, sometimes without any warning. Hopethe painkillers are helping. Good news that you have a new cleaner sorted out, hope that's one thing off your mind. Its gone really cold here tonight, a preview of what's to come I suppose.
Annette: Saw the film of Remains of the Day, it was well done, but have not read the book. My son has passed me his copy of 'Atonement' which I might get around to reading sometime, also saw the film which was excellent. Have to say, when I read a book 1st, I usually don't like the film as much as the reading. Maybe its because I form a picture of the characters in my mind & don't like the actors, or maybe its because usually its hard for the film producers to fit in all the extra nuances from a book, into a couple of hours of action.
Big flock of geese still appearing every couple of days on a field nearby our house, they are feeding on the remains of this years crops. Walking back from the town this morning, heard a cockerel shout from an urban back garden, don't know if the owners have asked their immediate neighbours if they mind being woken up early in the mornings, as they undoubtedly will be!!! It does seem to be becoming fashionable to have chickens again- my parents had some in wartime, but then they lived in the countryside at the time. (& Mr Fox got them all, in the end, much to my father's annoyance).
Off to check my emails, they seem to breed or something when I don't keep up.
Greetings to all celebrating Thanksgiving today. It's late for me but maybe you have just finished? Unless you eat in the evening, of course.
I didn't mean to come on here tonight but I have just returned from choir practice and the person who did the posters didn't ask and got the ticket price wrong, so I have to quickly print a new bottom to the poster so I can take it to work to photocopy tomorrow. Concert is Saturday week so not very in advance, whoops!
December is always busy with music, because I play in the local orchestra too and that concert is next Tuesday, must do extra practice this weekend (and not stay here chatting!)
Lindybird - I usually prefer to see a film before reading the book, otherwise I think of all the bits they've had to miss out. On the other hand, a film can make something obvious that I missed if I read the book first. Pros and cons, but a film is usually disappointing after the book. Oh I can't decide... I have read Atonement and then saw the film but it was a long time after, books have a lot more in them.
We have chickens, but no cockerels.
Terry in Cumbria
you sound very musical TerryM but sorry about the poster. Hope you do well and sell lots of tickets.
Lindybird, as long as it isn't a peacock I think I would be fine
Enjoyed every bite of my meal and gave thanks while doing it.
Catch up tomorrow:)
