Hallo folks. Not much action yesterday afternoon on last week's chat, though SueC quoted a poem by the Wolof fishermen of Senegal about ospreys, which I found reassuring.
Morning All,
Latest news from TI is that leaf blowers will soon be redundant as all the leaves have left in a north easterly direction, probably in the direction of Auntie in Finland.
Weather:
Medium - level cloud , Temp 13.1c , Wind 25mph gusting up to 41mph , Visibility 35kms , Pressure 1008hPa rising , Humidity 66% , Dew Point 9.0c

I have use of two hands but often use only one hand! Supposed to use RH forward, LH back, but can hook RH thumb round to reverse. But I think there are adaptations available for one- handed users. Make sure he gets a four-wheeled model for balance - three wheelers look nifty and are lighter to lift in and out of car, but are less robust and for someone who falls and has balance impaired by lack of use in second arm/hand, four wheels are a necessity. (There are also some five wheel models on the market, but haven't any experience of them). Get some advice, possibly from Motability even if you can't use one of their schemes (they do scooters as alternative to cars), and Good Luck!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Margobird: You really need to do something about these falls - please get checked out by the doctor - there may be an underlying cause - it's easy to blame wellies etc, and I understand your reluctance because of other problems, but do please do the sensible thing!
I don't actually drive - OH is my nominated first driver and son has been second, but this will change to daughter #1 when giving details for new car. Lots of people think you have to drive to get a car under Motability Scheme - I used to think that - but you don't.
AQ, hope the coffee yesterday was enjoyable.
Wattle, sorry as well about the heat. Good luck.
Diane, hope you and your dad are feeling a little better after the flu.
Lindybird, hope you manage to puch through the boring stuff today and enjoy the cinema with EF. Enjoy the popcorn/ice cream...
OG, the new car sounds great and good luck.
Margobird, you do need to watch out and wellies/rubber soles are terrible on grass. Enjoy the break with OH. Cornwall is such a lovely place.
Quiet start here, mainly because it has just gone 7am so not done much yet!
New blog from Roy Dennis mentions BBC Autumnwatch and Golden Eagles.

He has also updated the honey buzzards. Vespa has now decided to try out Nigeria! It is amazing how far these juveniles can travel on their first migration.
Afternoon all. Still absolutely dull weather here, not a single ray of sun for days, blaah, just either fog or rain.
OG, so sorry for the troubles with cleaner are tiler.
Aquilareen & Wattle, how on earth can you guys survive that heat?????
Lindybird, promise to bring "phrase translations", when a proper one appears.
Alan, I really do hope that those poor leaves don`t migrate here. `Cause if they survive the journey they won`t probably find any leaf blower, I think all our LBs are already either migrated somewhere or are hibernating.
Meant to write this yesterday about those doggiepics, when dog is happy, it really shows, just adorable darlings you have! And that fattest pigeon ever....OMG LOL
my photos in flickr
Thanks Alan will make sure I am watching on Friday.

Original Goldfinch Thanks for putting me wise about the Mobility Scheme I didn't realise that you can nominate another driver.
I am sure there is not an underlying reason for my falls, just not being careful enough and I have always been a bit accident prone, due to not very good eyesight but that is another story and I won't bore you with it suffice to say I have been this way since I was a child and have accepted I have limitations that sometimes cause me a bit of trouble.
I am just looking forward to a 3 day break in North Cornwall starting next Thursday. It is my husband's 50th and he decided he would like a few days away in what is a very special place to us. Crazy time of the year to go but as long as it is not too cold or wet we will have a good time visiting some areas we really love.
Margobird:
Like I say, I didn't know about nominated drivers until I got a leaflet from DWP about using my allowance for a car!
We've postponed the dealer appointment - police say the roads are treacherous and SEPA say Dumfries will flood at 3:30! OH has been talking to the dealer by phone , so has a bit more info now. Of course, as always happens to us, he is about to go off on holiday - unless we can get there Saturday (could see a different man, but prefer the same one)!
Pleased you are looking forward to your break in Cornwall. Take Care.
