Hallo folks. Not much action yesterday afternoon on last week's chat, though SueC quoted a poem by the Wolof fishermen of Senegal about ospreys, which I found reassuring.
Thanks, dibnlib, but it was all a long time ago now, & he's OK, except when he spies a cat in the garden! then chaos reigns...
Annette; 3D glasses are around here this week, as a while ago someone discovered some footage filmed in 3D of the Queen's Coronation,& they are showing it soon on Channel 4. Could be interesting. Find it pretty amazing to think she has been Queen for all of my life, and still is, when I feel a bit creaky now, myself! Interesting about your turkey traditions etc. The shops here are now awash with mince pies and other goodies, well before the Big Day, plenty of time to pile on the pounds before we even get there.
Wow. A week of 3-D programs on Channel 4? You can tell that Gary and I are definitely out of the loop here. I remember Hyacinth (" the Bookay residence!") Bucket telling Richard now and then that she thought he'd been watching Channel 4 too much. Sounds wonderful.
Lindybird: Buzz looks like he'll fit the current dog "gallery" beautifully. Not boring at all!
OG thanks for telling me about the birds on the countryfile programme as I tend to get my birds mixed up if I don,t have my bird book in front of me and before I wrote that blog I was reading about the new law that has been passed about the coast and marine sites and they were saying that this should probably help with the breeding habitat for the chuffs.

Lovely plant, Alan. I've always fought against a conservatory - prefer to just choose to be outside or inside, but I do miss out on some of the more recent plant introductions! Daughter No1 has two conservatories and hardly any plants - uses the "grown-ups' conservatory" to raise seeds (she has a greenhouse but I think it is too far away at the end of the garden) and only toys, games etc in the "childrens' conservatory"!)
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Thanks for the picture Alan and thanks also to you and lindybird for the answer to the glasses question! Hope the programme is good.
Lovely dog pics today, I want to cuddle them.
AQ - could you give away your chocolate cream pie recipe, or is it a closely guarded secret? We wouldn't tell anyone (honest). Crumbs, "only" 30 degrees? I'm happy with 20-ish (70ish in old money).
Gary - I think you could put your sunset onto the Sunset and Clouds forum in the Tearooms. Have you seen the amazing pics there?
Glad to see the Sarratt osprey has been around today.

I must add that after our large Xmas midday meal, I provide a few slices of tomato, cucumber, left-over turkey for the evening meal. Those still with us pick a little and groan. LOL We live on the main meal left-overs the next day. TerryM - yes, I shall post the choc cream pie recipe later (need to look it up).
Once a year our council has a "hard rubbish collection". We put our unwanted goods on the kerbside and, sometime over the next week, the council sends a truck to collect the remaining rubbish. In the meantime scavengers in trailers come by selecting anything vaguely useful (half a bike, cord off a dead TV/computer, tatty chair) - one's junk is another's treasure!!!!!
We have had our water restrictions eased. (Do I sense an election coming early next year?) Instead of 3 hours a week on specified days, we can now water up to 5 hours on any day. Still between 6-9 am or 6-9 pm and no sprinklers. Last night was down to a blissful 15 C (great night's sleep). It is warming up again 34 predicted today. If you don't hear from me for a few days it will be because they say 41 C for Wed & Thurs and my computer feels the heat badly. I'm off to archives a/c again today.
AQ- 41 degrees! I didn't know it went up that high. You need to take care as that heat must be dangerous.
