Weekly Chat, 29 January 2012

Greetings from a hot (28C) sticky (61% humidity) Sunday in Adelaide. Check back to page 13 of last week's chat if you missed the whale or bird videos. Thanks Diane & Chloe.

As I suspected would happen, Dau returns too late to collect or receive Jasper this eve, so I shall deliver HRH tomorrow after my Physio appt. Latter is to strengthen muscles to assist knee recovery. Huh, all it seems to be doing is to make knees even more sore than usual. I shall persist. Sermon this morn had some appropriate words to encourage me, about not fearing change to make things better.

My memories of the Aurora Australis (Southern Lights) that I saw as a child was of blue & pink. Yet most pics are of green. Hence I was pleased to see some non-green Aurora. My memory isn't failing LOL.

  • Lynett - Lovely pics thanks. I keep finding empty perch last few look in.

MaryGK - EarthFlight is on in Scotland next Sunday, check your listings it's on different channel and time, someone mentioned on another thread. ;)

Goodnight all, thanks Alan beautiful photo, I'll just do a quick camera run around before bed.

  • Soon after I posted yesterday, Dau#2 phoned to say they had returned home early to avoid driving in the heat. We were delighted to deliver Jasper on our way to vist m-i-l. Invited back later for BBQ tea at Dau's, we only stayed til 8 pm as LittleMiss was already having her long "night" sleep and her parents needed to sleep while she did. (I remember some unhelpful infants who slept through 10 pm and woke for a 2 am feed. Exhausting.) First day of new school year and Dau#1 has a teaching contract 3 days a week at a school a mere 10 mins from her home. I had my check with physio this morn - got some praise despite being slack while cat in residence. I feel rather like a child at school being praised for 2/10 correct answers and having the 8/10 wrongies ignored!

Thanks, OG for the encouragement re exercises. You are the 3rd person to reinforce that message. I do need to be reminded again & again.

Linda - Please send frost. Though much cooler today, currently 22 C but very humid. The promised "shower or two" was a few drops. Please, can we perhaps have a pic of the 2 hedgehogs fighting over the windfall? LOLOLOL

Brenda - So jealous of your 3 C.

NiteOwl - Ospreys are far more important than mere housework!!!!

Lynette - I hope you having extended cold weather doesn't mean we get equivalent heat.

Annette - Nothing like the threat of visitors to get a few tasks done!

Alicat, Linda's OH and all on the sick list - Get well soon.

  • Frosty again:  I really will have to pack some of it up and post it to AQ.  My OH is outside defrosting the car as he is off to an appointment (he had another night on the floor, and this time watched "The Shawshank Redemption" in the middle of the night.)

AQ:   My hair now looks/feels like two hedgehogs who have been washed in something which made them go all soft and droopy......  No, never a photo!  Just imagine those famous pics of Laurel & Hardy, and poor Stan, that's who I resemble in the mornings....     Glad that Jasper has gone home and you no longer have to fight with those pills!  Good that Daughter has job so near home, how handy.

Alicat:   sorry to hear that you too are suffering with a bad back.  Its so restricting, you can't do much when its that bad. Do get some help & see if the Doc can give you some painkillers at least.  We were recommended to take Neurofen to get the swelling down but although he has taken it every day, it does not seem to have made any difference.

OG:  Did have a snooze, and then woke up with a start!  Guilt, I think!

Thanks to Lynette for the pics.

Monday again, already:   here are your Monday Smiles for this week, the theme is "How to Get Through the Day"

First, make sure that you always have a friend to watch your back....

Remember to balance out your day....  and hang on to things that matter...

    Be ready for the unexpected:

&  Don't forget that teamwork always helps....

    Have a Good Week!

  • Another great Eagle pic from ALAN.

  • DIANE:   Have sent you a PM.

  • Good Morning ALL. Another cloudy morning so no ground frost. Temperature is 1.3c right now.

Alicat, I hope you now have your appointment with your GP.

AQ, Praise from your Physio, I bet that made you feel good. You have to aim for a gold star now.

Linda, Thanks for the Monday Smiles. I think the first one is my favourite.

Your OH really is suffering and must be so tired. I doubt if he is really enjoying watching films.

OG, I hope you weren't woken too early this morning.

Hope you all keep warm, recover from your ailments and manage to enjoy today.

  • Morning all,

Linda : Thanks for the monday smiles. Sorry your OH s back is still bad.

Alicat : sorry to hear you have a bad back also.

Thanks to everyone else for the chat etc.

Yesterday we went shopping in the morning to Van Hage and Dobbies. Bought some really expensive cushions at the Bedecke shop. They were reduced from £40 to £10 each. Lady P seemed to like them. She knows about all that sort of interior design stuff. Later watched some of the tennis, some of the FA cup and some of the bowls. In between did the birdwatch which turned out to be a no show. No idea where all the birds have gone. I suspect it is the mild weather although we are now entering a cold spell. No frost this morning as there is too much cloud. Current temp 2.0c.

  • Hatch number 3 confirmed at Sequoyah.

Great zooming on eagle cam now:

  • Good morning all just testing at the moment, want to make sure I am still Margobird, tried to submit bird count details and had to change password to do it.  Back later when I have caught up.
