Greetings from a hot (28C) sticky (61% humidity) Sunday in Adelaide. Check back to page 13 of last week's chat if you missed the whale or bird videos. Thanks Diane & Chloe.
As I suspected would happen, Dau returns too late to collect or receive Jasper this eve, so I shall deliver HRH tomorrow after my Physio appt. Latter is to strengthen muscles to assist knee recovery. Huh, all it seems to be doing is to make knees even more sore than usual. I shall persist. Sermon this morn had some appropriate words to encourage me, about not fearing change to make things better.
My memories of the Aurora Australis (Southern Lights) that I saw as a child was of blue & pink. Yet most pics are of green. Hence I was pleased to see some non-green Aurora. My memory isn't failing LOL.
Dunedin female moving twigs on the nest and the male is watching. Typical male!!! lol
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
What amazing tennis... we were glued.
We saw the great bit of film on AutumnWatch that you mention, NiteOwl. There always seems to be something new to learn about ospreys.
Have been doing our Garden count of the birds - nothing exciting today, & only a couple of Goldies on the feeders.
Dying to know how Annette gets on with her visitors - hope you had time to tidy up!
Sandra - Lovely Pics thanks, did you see Earth Flight this afternoon - Awsome! or were you like Scotland and got football instead?

Hi all, another week nearer. Just heard on the news that the weather this week is going to be one of the longest colder spells for winter with frosts at night, so, bedsocks on and keep warm all.
AQ - thanks for starting us off. Reminds me of the weather in Sri Lanka in November, hot, sticky, and high temps, just what you are suffering now.
MaryGK - thanks for the pics from Dunedin. Just taken a few myself a few mins. ago and male was on the perch.correction - it was Sandra with the pics, sorry Sandra.phoebe
RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Lynette ~ Wasn't me who posted the photos of Dunedin, think it was Sandra. Nice photo's though from both of you.
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
Went to church this morning, a visiting minister, quite good children's address. Went out with the children to help with the craft as we are doing the story of Joseph and the kids are decorating squares to make up into a coat ready for the birthday service/mothers' day on the 18th March - should be good.
Easy day as usual on a Sunday - hope everybody had a good day.
Only 53days20hrs20mins and a few secs for EJ to arrive back
Odin - 63d.23hrs.14mins. and of course the secs.
Arghh. Was awake until 2 a.m. then woke up at usual time of 7. Just made very quick and blurry trip to Trader Joe's for some basics; now plan to finish preparing dinner for tonight and reheat it since won't feel like cooking later. Plan to spend the rest of the day looking for opportunities to nap.
Not sure previous owners will in fact knock on door, but have tidied up anyway.
Yawn.
Lindybird: Sorry you had a bad night too!
OG: Thanks for pointing out confusion with various OHs!
MaryGK: I was fortunate enough a couple of years ago to buy some used binocs from the Gray Whale project at a good price when new ones were purchased. We always wonder why birders don't have compass-equipped binocs since they make spotting so easy.
Off to stumble about; willl try to find that tennis match replay on telly....
Take care all.
Hi Lindybird i know what your OH is going through with the sleepless nights and back i am also suffering with back pain and sleepless nights do to it been like this for four weeks thought it would have got better by now so if i can get booked it tomorrow i will go to the GPs and see if they can do anything for it

lg stats
2c degrees coming home from church tonight, but it has been dry, so no ice! Clear view of moon, but some cloud lower down. Split tea because J had music practice for playing in the service – seems to be on rota (if there was one!) every week now.
Linda – sorry OH was in more pain again – hope he gets more sleep tonight – and you too. Good thing you had no big plans for the day – hope you got a snooze after lunch!
Brenda – we had a good sermon on “petitionary prayer” – largely, but not exclusively, based on the Lord’ Prayer. Our “nearly new” young Minister is never boring. I had been about a week without the cough – I think this is stress-related, but have been fine all day and was able to sing this evening. I hope you are finally clear of your cough.
NiteOwl – it’s good to have you here on the weekly chat. It helps pass the non-Osprey months, we learn such a lot from each other, and share our joys and pains with such great friends here. We recorded the English screening of Earth Flight because we couldn’t find the Scotland one in the Radio Times! (Eagle Eye and I are in SW Scotland).
Lynette – that Dunedin Eagle male is soooo handsome! Oooh! Only 53 days – and when we are into February this week, we shall be able to say “next month”!
Mary – sorry no Goldfinches, but don’t give up on Nyger, because Redpolls and Siskins will also eat it. How long to your holiday now?
Annette – sorry about the short night – I hope you managed a wee nap today. Nice to have tidied up, even if they only looked at garden from outside your property.
Alicat – sorry you have done something to your back – I hope Doc can help.
Tired after early wake-up, so soon off to bed. Back tomorrow.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
