Weekly Tete a Tete (Chat) Sunday 1st November 2009

Good Morning/Night Everyone and welcome to another addition of our fun and very informative thing we do called the "chat."   =O)  Today, we in America turn our clocks back so it should be great fun trying to figure out what time it is where everyone else in the group is.

Posts for part of 30th and all of 31st October, plus part of 1st November can be found on pages 16-18 of the 25th October Chat.  Don't miss newly posted flower and tree photos, a report on the Crane Cam from TerryM, an intriguing video link from Gary, Wattle15 checks in and traditions for the days of 31st October and 1st November from Auntie, Diane and yours truly; plus much more.

Well, I guess that's it then. Be well and safe everyone.

  • Annette - that's the word I was looking for - archives, (ended up with "storage" space!!!)

  • Annette: I think I'm starting to recover from the flu. I'm too mean to keep down for long. ;-) My Dad is really struggling, though, due to his chronic lung condition. Thanks for asking!

  • Liz LFW:  Regardless of what we're calling it, they don't seem to have it!  :-)

Diane: Take care and hang in there. Are you getting enough sleep or are you still a night-owl? I've been making an effort to get to bed no later than 10:30 and get some reading in. Hope your Dad's condition isn't keeping you from sleeping.

  • Annette: I'm sleeping when I can. Dad is requiring a lot of care. This flu itself is exhausting. The officials who are saying that this is a mild flu are full of crap. I hope all of you can avoid it!!! I'm headed to bed right now. I'm re-reading Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype. Great book! Are you reading anything good? Take care of yourself, Annette.

  • Diane: Just finished Peter Mayle's "Vintage Caper" and got an e-mail from the library telling me that "The Lost Art of Gratitude" by Alexander McCall Smith is ready for pickup. All very light stuff right now.

  • What bliss, my brain’s not melting. A cool day 20 C and a shower of rain this morn. I hope those "over there" are not being deluged. I haven't seen anything on our news yet.

Found inside a chocolate wrapper:   I don't love chocolate, I worship, respect and adore it.

I've found the newspaper article (about 2 weeks old) about ospreys. Last year they were upgraded to endangered in SA and their status was used to argue against development of the state’s West Coast*. Prelim results show an increase in SA population from 50 to 60 breeding pairs in recent years. Most are on western Eyre Peninsula. They had some pics of one chick & 1 unhatched egg in the nest perched on a sea stack. There have been no further progress reports. The article mentioned that in NSW the osprey population has increased over 20 years from a low of 30 pairs in 1987 to 140 in 2007. They are found breeding south of Sydney for the first time.

    * Confusingly SA’s West Coast is in the "middle" – ’tis the west of the state not of Australia. Just like South Australia is not the most southerly part of Australia !!!!

Hope all the sick are getting better. Just a thought - Virus is a Latin word translated by doctors to mean "Your guess is as good as mine".

  • Diane sorry to hear about your Dad but pleased you are feeling a little better.  Look after yourself though as well.

  • How wonderful there are so many people around who really care, didn't realise Chester was a rescue dog but just look at him now and probably still trusting of humans.  These 5 are delightful as well.

  • Thanks Annette have to say I have had another dreadful night's sleep due to severe back pain.  The bruising is still coming out so as yet I have not graduated to the "yellow" stage.  Glas you enjoyed Ravi Shankar.

  • DjoanS thanks for your concern.  I have just got up but my back is really playting me up.  More and more bruising appearing and one very black eye together with bruises from forehead to knees.  Have really felt rough over the past few days but coming on the site has helped a lot with all the pictures and good wishes that came my way.
