Good Morning/Night Everyone and welcome to another addition of our fun and very informative thing we do called the "chat." =O) Today, we in America turn our clocks back so it should be great fun trying to figure out what time it is where everyone else in the group is.
Posts for part of 30th and all of 31st October, plus part of 1st November can be found on pages 16-18 of the 25th October Chat. Don't miss newly posted flower and tree photos, a report on the Crane Cam from TerryM, an intriguing video link from Gary, Wattle15 checks in and traditions for the days of 31st October and 1st November from Auntie, Diane and yours truly; plus much more.
Well, I guess that's it then. Be well and safe everyone.
5.35 pm What a difference half a day makes !!!!! A cool change has blown in, dropping the temp to 17 C with 80% humidity. It is trying to rain - a drop or two on the garden path.
Original Goldfinch: Thank you so very much for the beautiful, bold red flowers. They are breathtaking. I appreciate your concern. aquilareen: I'm so glad that you are getting a respite from the heat. I hope you get good rain. I know you need it. I don't know how you guys handle that extreme heat for such long periods. I would have no energy at all. Wattle: Loved the pic of the Wattle tree!
Unknown said: It probably reminded many of the settlers of the type of "shrub" used in this country to make "Wattle and Daub" walls and fences. It can also be likened to mimosa here. I know that I need to click on the "blue" symbol to insert Media (ie Pictures), but I seem unable to upload what I want - can anyone enlighten me please?

I had wondered if there was a connection with wattle fencing and wattle & daub walls ... I also noticed a similarity with mimosa, but couldn't tell whether the yellow was flowers or leaves. I could have googled it, but was too lazy!
To upload media: what I do is click the bluey-green filmstrip icon above. This opens an insert window. Click on browse which will take you into your documents (I am assuming Microsoft OS here!). Find your pictures and choose the picture you want to insert (I find it helps if in my folders I have shown them as filmstrip or thumbnails but if you are well organised with picture names you will find them in your lists). Double click on it then click insert. It will take some time to insert, so be patient. If your file is too big (very high quality or something) it should tell you, and you would need to save as asmaller file. There may be someone more techie-minded who can describe this better than I.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Normal 0 false false false
Wattle: I’m raising a mental glass not only to Garten EJ and Odin but also your beautiful Wattle tree.
OG – such great pics ! I just love water birds. And wonderful flowers I’ve so enjoyed together with Diane.
Yes Diane so many well wishes for you – somehow missed that you’d got the flu. Easily done even if one has just been ‘absent’ for 24 hours!
AQ! So many apologies for not taking my portion of the heat for you (hangs head in shame) :)
Annette – glad you enjoyed your trip north.
Liz FLW you need to click on ‘Browse’ and find your way to your Windows Explorer and the ‘folder’ and then the ‘file’ you want to upload. Then you need to Double Click on the name of the image you want to upload which will put the ‘address’ of that file in the ‘address box’ next to the word ‘Browse’.After which you click on the word ‘Insert’ underneath it . It will take a little while but you will know when it is ‘done’ but you may not ‘see’ it unless you use your scroll button until you have actually ‘posted’ it. Does this make sense? Anyway, all the best with your next try.
Morning! Raining here, but not as much, I suspect, as it is in Scotland, where they have dreadful floods (they have had so much more rain lately than all of us in the Southern partsof the British Isles, so are saturated). Not very cold yet for the time of year, thank goodness. Off today to wish 'Happy Birthday' to Husband's Aged Auntie, will take Dog with me as she loves to see him (no, I don't walk, as its over 3 miles each way!) Expect both Dog & I will be pressed to have a digestive biscuit....
That was a huge dog, that Leon Burger whatsit!!! Wonder what size is his food bowl, and his bed! Loved his breed picture on Google, though, bet he's a big softie.
OG: Great geese pics, thanks. Glad you enjoyed your day. Also Annette, its nice to get away even for a short break. Have heard before about the Mexican traditions, they do honour those who've gone before in a very dignified way.
Diane; Hope the flu isn't too grim, these things unfortunately take time.
Margobird: Hope those bruises are going to be just memories soon. Do take care of yourself.
Off to dry my hair now before I sally forth into the world- it seems to take longer & longer to 'make a silk purse out of a sow's ear' these days, the older I get!!!!!!!!
ps: Dog hates the fireworks, and thunder: he thinks someone is walking on our roof when it's bad. Has to sit or sleep close to his beloved Master for reassurance, so we're expecting this to last for about 2 weeks as the fireworks go off randomly everywhere around for at least that long.
OG and Annette, welcome back and glad you had good times. OG, lovely pictures thanks.
Margobird, you sound in the "wars" still after you fall. Hope you are a little better today, sounds like it may take a bit of time.
Lindybird, enjoy the day and digestive!
AQ, great news about the cool down, long may it last.
Diane, hope the flu is leaving you as well.
All quiet here so far, although my OH has got the beginings of a sinus infection. She gets them on and off so a trip to the docs is in order today I think.
Just watched 6 deer grazing on acorns in our garden (yard!) as well so a good start to the day.
Happy Monday everyone (sorry if I have missed anyone, just got tome to do a quick skim through this morning)
For Margobird!
Thanks, Gary, for your concern. The deer sound just beautiful. What a lovely start to the day.

At the coast now. Early start on the boat out to an island. Saw plenty of ospreys but mostly distant. Plenty of sea for them to hunt! SK.
Flocks of caspian, royal, sandwich and other terns. Brill for birds. SK
Weather here on TI is sunny but breezy. Temp 10.6c . Wind W 17mph.
Just been out for a walk with Thunderdog Hamish. He dragged his blanket outside so the weather forecast must be good for the rest of the day. Must get him a job in the met office.
