Dunedin male:
Love the last picture KEITH Really evocative with that sky
Sad news from a couple of the peregrine nests. The pair at Nottingham Trent university have lost two out of their four chicks and Tom and Charlie the pair at Charing Cross Hospital have one very weak chick which is not feeding and prospects are not good. All down to the terrible weather this weekend. This is the falcon in Nottingham last night.
The only source of knowledge is experience. Albert Einstein
Aww Bless!! I was watching her yesterday and she was really soaked through and doing her best to keep her chicks dry!! So sad! :-(
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Here she is at 10am. I can't see any movement with the chicks!
Sandra : 2 of the chicks died yesterday. I have seen one moving today.
Here is the latest pic at 10:10am, one has just moved
Thanks Alan :-)
I have seen 2 moving but not strongly. Let's hope they get plenty of food today but there is some concern the tiercel has not been seen.
How awful - poor birds
People watching the peregrine cams have to be prepared to see the falcon feed the dead chicks to the survivors. It happened a couple of years ago at Derby.
Thanks Keith, for that wonderful set of photos! Absolutely stunning and the last one of the male with a fish is brilliant.
I like the way they've constructed that nest platform, it looks a lot more sturdy than some I've seen photos of, the nest is contained well and a good depth to it too, which I would have thought meant warmer eggs and chicks.
How long are you away for?
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
