Dunedin male:
That's brilliant news. So here we go UK!!!
Loch Garten stats. and All the important links for LG.
Chloe : Thanks for that, you just beat me to it. I was hoping for that good news before I left for Snowdonia tomorrow.
Chloe brilliant news, let's hope the weather will be a bit kinder now for all our ospreys and expected chicks.

Hope you get decent weather for your trip Alan. The clouds are just starting to break here in the NW after a very chilly morning of leaden skies, strongly blustering winds and on, off rain.
Also will be interesting to know how much of Glaslyn nest cup can actually be seen now. The view was obscured after laying of first egg.

Great news and many more to come I hope
Thats wonderful news. I was at Glaslyn at the beginning of the month and they were excited about the 3 eggs... It was just after the really bad weekend of weather and they said that the female had all but been blown out of the tree, nest and all... a very close call, they said and very worrying. She had clung on and stuck it out in huge gusts of wind, and would not leave the eggs: it was pointed out to me that it might have been wise of her to leave as she could always lay again another year, but it would have been tragic for her to be killed by the wind.
I was lucky enough to see the male egg sitting, and then he flew off as the female returned after an hours break from the nest. So I saw them both, what a huge thrill.
I'm hoping to go to Glaslyn in August - I'll be on holiday in Shropshire with my family and Glaslyn isn't too far away. Sadly Loch Garten's just a bit too far away this year.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Piret was fairly restless this morning, Madis brought her a magazine but she wasn't impressed and left anyway:
After Madis settled the magazine blew across and became a jacket for him:
But this 20-second clip shows it coming off:

Here's a must-see 10-minute video of Madis's struggle with the bark he was silly enough to bring. Those poor eggs, so often uncovered, but Madis puts some clumps on them for a minute then goes back to the bark :o
2nd hatch at Glaslyn, 8.05 this morning!
