Dunedin male:
I agree that the thread is getting out of hand (as is the LG forum with too many threads, IMHO). I would never have followed the kalakotkas were it not for the outstanding picture and sound quality at a time when the LG stream was a physical and mental pain. My priority is EJ and Odin's family, so I will go with the flow :-)
I wouldn't normally post so many videos of the Estonian nest, it just seemed to be a developing situation.

Bassenthwaite report that their female has removed one of the eggs from the egg cup. Wonder how she knows it is no longer viable? (compare 'Lady' last year, continuing to incubate eggs which by the sound of things had failed well before they were due to hatch)
The kalakotkas cam seems to be down this morning.
Am so excited that a bobblehead is due so soon, RACHEL :-)

This is exactly what happened at DPOF six years ago. It did not affect the three remaining eggs. I related the story at The Mystery of The Missing Egg
Tiger Signature
The one at Bassenthwaite must have had a crack in it.

First hatch at Lake Barkley
Alan thank you. I forgot that Lake Barkley was due today. Of course this means that Glaslyn is due for hatching tomorrow.
Kalakotkas cam is OK this morning. I took my eye off the ball but I think that the second pic is Madis taking over when Piret took a break. But it looks the other way around in these still pics.
I don't know much about the science of incubation, but this poor egg is spending so much time uncovered that I can't see it hatching. It's really bad this morning, heartbreaking. They both leave the nest and when one returns it doesn't immediately incubate, but fidgets with the nestcup :-(
For example, the egg had been uncovered for at least 5 minutes, probably more, when a parent returned:
Morning all.
Yes Scylla, I agree. I think this pair must be first-timers, they are so casual about the poor egg. Is there still only one? Oh yes, true to form, she's just got up to fiddle with the nest, and there still is only one.
Very windy there.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
Dont know when it was laid but 2 eggs now ( Estonia ) Both birds on nest just fiddling about, neither incubating. Poor eggs indeed.
