HAPPY NEW WEEK!!!
News for This Week
Okay, folks, this is a big week. The Full Moon is Saturday, December 10. Here's the good part: There's a TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE, and we'll all get to see part or all of it! Woo hoo!!!
The full duration of the eclipse can be seen in Australia (yay, AQ), New Zealand, Alaska in the U.S., northern Canada, central and eastern Asia, and most of Russia.
The moon will rise already eclipsed in Europe, Africa, and eastern Russia. The moon will set eclipsed in the U.S., Mexico, and parts of Canada.
So all of you in the U.K. can see the eclipse as the moon rises. We in the U.S. can see the eclipse as the moon sets. Those in Australia can see the full length of the eclipse.
People on the west coast of the United States and Canada will see the beginning of totality just as the moon disappears below the western horizon (yay, Annette). But viewers on the U.S. east coast will not be able to see the start of totality before moonset.
For times, maps, and info, click HERE. There will not be another Total Lunar Eclipse until April of 2014.
Everybody have a great week!!!
Thought this was clever.
Oh! A neat way to 'capture the Moon' dibnlib! Like that.
Hello: A brighter start today in the sky here, but lots of frost is still upon the lawn showing its been our coldest night so far.
Have enjoyed all the posts: thanks to AQ for the Friday Smiles, and hope that your cold remains as a snuffle, rather than a bad head cold. Doesnt seem fair after you have been a Good Samaritan to your daughter and little Miss.
I'm off now to queue at the Post Office - they have closed so many sub post offices here in the last few years, the Main Post Office is forever wending its way in a long queue around the shop its in - bad enough on a Saturday never mind when everyone wants their parcels weighed.
Have a Good Weekend!
Morning all,
Please support the Channel 4 campaign to fill up Britains empty homes:

AQ : Thanks for the the friday smiles but you forgot Wayne Rooney who looks like a 'tator'.
Linda : Thanks for the latest review of HUGO. It is good to have a film critic on the forum. Hope the queues are not too bad at the PO.
DIbnlib : Amazing moon pictures, must have taken a few shots to get some of them just right.
Thanks to everyone else for the chat etc.
Coldest night so far and the first time the birdbath has been frozen. It was really hard to get going this morning and Hamish was not too keen to go out on the ice. Not sure what is planned for today but I hope it does not involve shops. All our cards have been posted now and LadyP has wrapped most of the presents so nothing much else to do for C.............
Hope everyone keeps warm and has a good day.
Morning all Haven't even been reading this week as the vertigo took a turn for the worse! Had to be brought hme from my dog training class and haven't been out since - a lot of time has been spent with eyes tight shut, just sitting or lying around. Doc has upped the dose of medication and that has helped a bit but I think my confidence has been knocked for six! Hope everyone has come unscathed through the dreadful weather of the last few days. I've been thinking of all of you in the path of the storm. It was fairly bad here but I know Scotland was much worse. I listen to Radiio Scotland quite often and the weather and travel news was awful.
PATRICIAT So sorry to hear your vertigo is so bad. Wishing you better soon. Back from my swim (1/2 mile) will give Dillon a quick walk before going back into town. Very slippy underfoot so must take leki pole for support.
One Man and His Dog on at 5:30pm on BBC2. Matt Baker on the Balmoral Estate. I wonder if Queenie and her Corgis are taking part?
First hatch for Phoebe!!!

I just noticed it... welcome Bob :-)
Cats and women will do as they please. Dogs and men should relax and get used to it.
HW this morning while J slept late, then put up trees and lights this afternoon. His tree in lounge because it’s bigger than the one we downsized to last year – ours in Dining Room. Will decorate them tomorrow. Never done Christmas so early before – don’t really like it – makes the house feel cluttered and can’t be properly cleaned. Having given in, maybe I have a bargaining plea to get them down before NY!
AQ – so sorry about throat – hope it has not developed to anything worse and that you are feeling better today. Sorry about Daughter too – must be exhausting to be like that while feeding Little Miss (I hope that is no longer 3-hourly!). Does that baby ever sleep? Those potato jokes are really great – LoL! Thanks for Honeyeaters photo.
Heather - yes, sounds like a really good meal at College. And today back to more family cooking – good thing you enjoy doing it!
Mary – no snow here but cold and still none of us 100%. Have a few things queued up for weekdays – running out of weekdays now! But nothing we can’t do without.
Dibnlib – eight Blackbirds here this morning – well on the way to rising to our ten on Boxing Day, as in 2009 when SH snagged one on the decking! I hope your day went according to plan and no mishaps on the way. Loved the Moon series!
Alan – does Hamish have boots for the ice? Don’t like to think of him with cold feet! Congrats to Phoebe!
Patricia – so, so sorry to read that you are worse. Is the doc ordering any tests? And are you getting any extra help at home?
Think we may be going to watch recorded Strictly now – unless doing Jigsaw again!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hi all, a lot of posts and news since I was last on. Too many to reply to all but one or two mentions.
Alan - watched the programme on Ch.4 and was quite taken with it, hope Phil Spencer and the like can get the beaurocrats off their backsides and do something about the homeless!!
The elephant safari was good fun but a might uncomfortable, had a bit of a sore behind for an hour or two. Yes the flower was and exotic one.
As its the end of the week will wind up and post properly tomorrow or Monday. Don't know what happened to my post before I put the pics on but hey never mind.
Thanks for all your news.
