HAPPY NEW WEEK!!!
Please check back to last week's chat. Lynette has updated us on the condition of her OH. She also posted some wonderful photos from her recent holiday.
News for This Week
Friday morning: There's a New Moon (Dark Moon) and a partial solar eclipse. The eclipse can be viewed in New Zealand (the South Island), Tasmania, South Africa (southernmost part), and Antarctica.
To start your week out right, look at this spectacular video. It's time-lapse photography of Earth taken from the International Space Station. The auroras are breathtaking. I loved this video; it gave me goosebumps. Scroll down about a third of the page.
Everyone have a great week! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the U.S.!
ANNETTE hospitals do not seem to read notes anymore ( OHs sisters readmittance after major surgery) When I broke my leg I was told 8 weeks minimum non weight bearing. My first check up I was told to weight bear minimally, then the doctor looked at my notes and went all quiet. Then he asked advice of the consultant and returned to say no weight bearing at all. In the meantime he had me practicing weight bearing in the surgery. This could have put me back to square 1. Makes you wonder what notes are for.
Good Morning: Misty here, and damp again. OH has gone out early so I'm racketing around the house, doing 3 things at once and getting none of them finished properly...... "calm down dear". I'm still getting ready for invasion of my D in Law and Bub, but we spoke several times over the weekend, and she has a terrible head cold so is not, now, coming today after all. They may come tomorrow, or otherwise we shall have to put it off until December as she has commitments next week.
dibnlib: I've not read all the posts properly yet, but see that your poor Sis in Law is having a rotten time. Do hope that all is OK for her and her family, in the end. Glad you made your long journey safely and without incident.
Here are your Monday Smiles to cheer us all up, this week - they are entitled "BIG" and you may have seen some of them before on the Int'net:
(look at those feet ! .....)
- - Fancy meeting him!

Dibnlib : Sorry your sister in law is having such a bad time.
Thanks for all the other chat etc.
Another dreich and foggy morning but I suppose it is more like November now although we still have a hollyhock flowering in the garden.
Beavers have been released into an enclosure in Wales:

Good morning all and thanks for all your kind thoughts and messages. Friday was a very sad day but in the midst of grief there was laughter as well and so many happy memories of my sister. Her husband and 2 children coped so well and I was immensly proud of her son who delivered a tribute to his Mum from him and his sister. He managed to say all he wanted to say about their Mum with a few breaks while he bravely held himself together. My sister would have been so pleased to see how many people came to say a final goodbye to her. Their bridesmaids and best man were there together with many family members who had travelled many miles to be there together with their neighbours of 30 years from where they used to live. Afte the funeral we went to a local country house/hotel where a buffet had been organised and we all raised a glass to one very brave lady now at peace and out of pain. On December 4th we will be travelling up again when her ashes are interred in their local church. It was quite a long day as we got up at 4.30 and set off just before 6.30 arriving back home here at 6.30 in the evening. Billie gave us a huge welcome back as she had been on her own for 12 hours. Fortunately the journey both ways was trouble free, non ofthe fog that appeared over the weekend thank goodness. December 4th has been chosen as it will be exactly 5 years since they moved to Stourport on Severn, a place my sister loved very much. Brother in Law says he will be selling up and moving to a new home in the area as he says there are far too many memories where he is at the moment. He says he will get on with life although it will never be the same without her. Arrangements are already being made for a holiday in Devon next year with his family and also their closest friends want him to go away with them. He is not sure at the moment whether he can do that but as he says time moves on and he might feel differently in the future. They have many friends and of course his son living very close so he will get a lot of support. None of us can quite believe what has happened, I think the speed of it in the end shook us all.
I am just doing a few replies so do forgive me if I do not respond to everyone. Thanks to all for your chat and pics and diane once again thank you for the card.
Lynette so sorry to read about your OH. What a shock for you having just returned from your holiday. Thanks too for all the pics, I would love to visit that elephant sanctuary.
Sheila hope your eye and ear problems improve soon.
AQ thanks for your report and pics, very interesting reading again.
dibnlib so pleased your trip went well but sorry to read about your sister-in-lay.
lindybird thanks for the Monday Smiles, I really need those at the moment.
Took me a while to read through and catch up as it has been quite busy since I logged out on Thursday afternoon. Hopefully I can keep up again now although I am panicking over Christmas now, it is getting so close and I have done absolutely nothing towards it.
Take care all and have a good week.
Margobird
Is " Adelaide" a German Christian name? My Irish / English grand daughters is called that.
Morning all: Quick look in...
Margo: Sounds like a lovely service and it must be so good for your sister's OH to see all the folks show up and to have such good support. Don't fret about keeping up; take care of yourself and all the things you need to catch up on (how about not doing much at all for Christmas this year!). It's been a very hard few months for you.
Lynette: Hoping your OH doesn't get too frustrated in the hospital today.
Lindybird: I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that that first pix of the girl and the dog was PhotoShopped (and not very well); not sure about the frog... :-)
dibnlib: Notes are apparently not for reading.
Fish: Don't ask me, the only Adelaide I know was the character in Guys & Dolls!
MARGO pleased you are home safely. Hope you will start and find each day a little easier - baby steps.
DIBNLIB wow that's a long drive in one day. I remember it's not long since you got a new car. Hope you were pleased with it.
Lindy good grief those feet. Wonder if it's called Thumper!
Dress shopping went well. Tried on lots but loved one that I nearly dismissed on display but decided to try it on. The only problem was they didn't have it in my size. One below slightly too small and one above like a tent. I've ordered one so I hope that when it comes it will be right. It was nice as when I came out to show OH the one that was too big there were other ladies saying how nice it looked so that helped me decide.
Yesterday we decided to take the birdless opportunity to clean out the sparrow terraces. They haven't been done for 2 or 3 years which I am ashamed about but they always seemed to be in constant use either as nests or roosts. Anyway they are up under the eves so OH got ladders out and went up to get them down. I then opened them up. One section had not been used in one of them but we think that may be because the perch we put on it had fallen out a while ago. they do not come with perches but we didn't think sparrows are that agile and thought they would be more inclined to use them if we provided one - looks like we were right. The other 2 in that one and all 3 in the other had lovely little nests in. One was like a cacoon, all the way round the inside of the box apart from the entrance hole. Anyway I emptied them all out and then soaked them in boiling bleachy water. Gave them a good rinse and then dried them out with a hot air gun - the paint stripping type. I wanted to get them dry inside and also thought that heat would serve as another germ/ pest killer. The final step was to put fresh hay in for them so when they return they will have cosy roosts for the cold nights.
I should be able to tell when they are in use again with the fresh hay as no doubt they will pull some out with them as they come and go until they compact it down.
Off for a walk with Mia now before dark. Should be able to get down by the river (just) and see if I can spot the elusive otters!
Brilliant walk. Weather dull, misty and damp but a really brisk walk. Mia full of life and squirrels galore. I keep telling her if she ever catches up to one - which she won't - she'll get a very nasty nip for her efforts. They are greys by the way as we're in Yorkshire. The funniest thing was her standing on her hind legs with her front paws as high up a tree as she could stretch looking longingly as one scurried away. No otters sadly.
SheilaFE- I'm quite envious of you seeing "Queen" live! I've been a fan of theirs for 40 years!! I am also a fan of their guitarist Dr. Brian May who is very much an animal activist. Wish I could watch the Strictly show in the USA.
