Hi everyone. If you didn't catch pages 20 and 21 of last week's blog, check them out for lovely photos of Woodpigeons, sunset at Solway, and a wonderful shot of 10 puppies!! And, of course, interesting and funny posts from fellow bloggers.
Morning everyone: Early to bed, early to rise - 5 a.m. here but yawning again already.
Diane: Thanks for info re Kiangs. What an interesting bunch! Synchronized asses yet! (Another new Olympic entry?) And so pretty too. I close my eyes throughout all dental procedures; don't want to see all that equipment. My husband's former LA dentist gave shots with some sort of "air" gun; no needles. I like that idea.
Caerann: Had to wait eons for first osprey image to appear, then got a "can't access the page" message when I tried to see the rest. Could be because wireless laptop still at rear of house away from router. Will try again later. Wonder where that first image was shot.
Auntie/Gary: In humans, the strongest muscle is the tongue, if I'm not mistaken. If that's also true in horses, it's a wonder Auntie didn't get inadvertently tossed aside (Auntie: did you have to wear gloves?)
OG: I have to grow tomatoes this next year; store-bought ones are tasteless, but farmer's market ones very good in some cases. Do you have "heirloom" tomatoes? My friend grows some that go by the name of Cherokee Purple, which are lovely.
Falling asleep again. Have a good Saturday and hope it's not too cold/wet.
Annette, yep I had gloves and the tongue was kind of tied with a cloth. It was quite difficult to hold but I was younger and mutch fitter then. And the filing was done as a quick "first aid" to get one nasty spike of.

One for Alan here.
The new world Monopoly champion.

go back to bed Annette!! Too early for a saturday!
Auntie, did the horse have any sedation/anasthetic?? If not, that must have been tough to hang on to!!
Hope you are having a nice day there:)
Gary, nope, no sedatives but my then hubby held the horses head and the horse was standing in a small pen so it couldn`t go backwards. But there was defenitely few sweat drops...
Good Day Everyone!
I hope everyone is doing well. =O)
The Osprey photos were taken in Port Severn, Ontario, Canada. I noticed this is a wild bird too, no bands on either leg. The photographer's notes say he went through quite an ordeal crouching, slipping and sliding in mucky pond water at waist height to get these photos.
Hello, All. Damp day here, but still warm for the time of year. Tried to take pics of birdies on my feeders in the intermittent sunshine, & they all flew off whenever I hid in garden, then reappeared 20 mins later when I was at the sink..... that's life.
AQ - loved the photos, great little horses.
Margobird: welcome back from hols. : Hope you enjoyed all those animals, it sounds lovely, saw some of them on the website you mentioned.
Caerann: Thanks for link to osprey pics, they were pretty awesome.
OG: Your greenhouse looks extremely tidy & well organised. The sight of the tomatoes took me straight back to when my father used to grow them, and that lovely smell the plants have- oh! the taste of them straight from the plant!! yum.
Gary: The mind boggles as to what sort of a day you have, if you are a horse dentist. They must be pretty dedicated to their trade (but well paid I imagine as there can't be many of them). Thanks for link to Monopoly champion - the rules they use must be very different to ours, as when we play as a family it usually seems to take about 4 days!! (and no-one is speaking to anyone else after, as we all grumble about the rules and/or the unfairness/intransigence of other players)
Leaves are tumbling from the trees here, even though there is hardly any wind. The hour 'changes' tonight, so that's when I wish I didn't have a clock in every room, then there's the VCR, the cooker, the car....etc.etc.
Afternoon all,
The rain has stopped eventually and I have just taken Hamish for his walk. Unfortunately it is almost dark and tomorrow it will be at this time. No idea why we are still changing the clocks. Probably something to do with medieval farming practices.
All is well on TI. Dundee Fc won today and have gone top of the Scottish First Division so more celebrations here tonight. The force must be with me so I expect to be a lottery winner tonight.
FAB
Or Alan, from one of my favorite movies, Spaceballs:
"May the Schwartz be with ya!"
Auntie, you are braver than I am then. No way would I try and do that if the horse wasn't "calm"!
Lindybird, I know what you mean about monopoly. Caused many a ruck in our house when we were living together!
Congrats to your team Alan. Let the celebrations continue.
We are off out to dinner tonight with some friends who want us to go to a place that does "english" food to see how it compares to the real thing. I'm not sure about it as we went to one place that did that and it was awful!! Still, I am under pressure to have something from the english side of the menu and be "nice about it" (that last phrase was an exact quote from she who must be obeyed!!! LOL)
