LG Osprey GABFEST - November

October has come and gone and once again it is time to open a new thread for the Gabfest..

During October we did finish the movie WILD MOUNTAIN THYME, complete with musical score, as planned. We launched it into distribution with its own World Premier. The Stars and most of the Supporting Cast were there appropriately dressed for their glitzy walk down the red carpet. Unfortunately co-stars EJ & ODEN and family were unable to attend as they are all currently on migration to Africa.

Keith surprised us with some very interesting bird & wildlife reports direct from the Sahara Dessert and from his own equatorial Island in the Sun. His on-the-spot factual reports helped us to understand the dangers our osprey face once they complete their long hazardous journey.

Our first music night was a smashing success that left everyone eager for the second.

Then we ended the month with a wonderfully thoughtful and caring discussion of the benefits or possible harm of the tracking of osprey and other birds.

NOVEMBER will bring continued reports and DISCUSSIONS of our own “Special Three“, Tore, Bynack and Rothes who have arrived safely in Africa. We will be watching especially for news of Bynack who has been in an area that seems to be potentially dangerous. We will be watching also for updates of young Ozwold who was VERY reluctant to leave Bonnie Scotland, but is finally taking a stopover in Spain where Roy Dennis says he can safely winter. So, will Ozwold stay in Spain? or will he move south?, on his own unique time schedule? We will also be following the adventures and misadventures of other tagged osprey, including Einion who had us holding our breath while he made a huge circle over the Atlantic, his siblings from the Dyfi nest and others that may come to our attention.  All this and much more is discussed on the Gabfest.

We expect to have The Second Gabfest Music Night toward the end of the month. The theme is yet to be discussed & determined.

This is the Freedom Forum, where fun, fact and fantasy combine to make a very unique thread. So come on in and chat a while with us. Our fire is bright and the latch is always open.

  • B & B - Yes serious the doctor has written WHITE COAT SYNDRUM in my discharge letter. He also joked about it when he finally gave the Yes I could go home and said the same as you - you better go home. They have a digital screen attached that shows your blood pressures all the time.

I will rest as much as you do when we tell you to go to bed now. LOL. No seriously I will rest and post and prepare my music evening and show after all I am not going far.

    Anyhow nice to be back.

  • black jag if you are about I loved your comment to Keith about not going looking for the Waxwings and Richard did say last year the "RUSSIANS ARE COMING" Yes there was an invasion and what a terrible winter. I have never seen a Waxwing and hope not to see an invasion again :)

  • KEITH, you are somethin' else! Been in the hospital for a week, still in recovery with visiting nurses, etc.  and already you've got us all laughing!  No wonder we missed you. And threatening to palm all your dried sliced mango on us at music night.  Shame!  Actually we can buy it here, especially at health food stores and it is very tasty. I love the fresh. Reminds me not of the Phillipines but of Hawaii.

Take care, now, y'hear?  We don't want any setbacks.

  • June totally agree with you and Keith yes you do make us smile but I will "kick *** " if you do not rest. June I was trying to find an "American" saying but probably got it wrong again.

  • Ballotelli a footballer but not sure where from. Maybe Italy. I am struggling to remember the spelling but Jims son has had a haircut like his and I know is mother will be horrified and he would of been sent home from School when I was there. I am furious. The Turkish Barber took photo's of his work and will puts pics in the window and no doubt a fashion will follow here.

  • B&B I think you got it right!!  LOL!  I'm glad you are enjoying PaleMale.  I'll have to watch some more of those videos.

  • B & B - No we do not want an invasion of Waxwings as this heralds a terrible winter like we had last year. I prefer just a gentle introduction as we have seen in previous years. last years all the Rowan trees around Aberdeenshire were stripped bare of berries in a day or so and they were on their way south.

  • Ballotelli (He is Itallian) - Have you seen his haircut like a Mohican.

I hope he does not act up like him though - you should read about his tricks.

  • Keith unbelievable so quick all the Rowan Trees not bushes were stripped and Richard was the first to point out and spot on he was.

June PaleMale, is it the original PaleMale I am fascinated and so in awe of it and have said before the Hussle and bustle of New York. Wonderful. That girl saying to her mother where is Palemale brought tears to my eyes how much those Redwing Hawks are loved. I am too sentimental lol

  • June - First Thank You for the welcome back.

Earlier in the week I was very interested in your chat about lighthouses with BJ which I read whilst in hospital.

I have an airtwork brush painting by a Californian Painter - Thomas Kinkade (Painter of Light) of the Hatteras Light. I also have painting of three other US lighthouses by the same painter.

Susan had an Aunt in NC at Chapel Hill (She is a GI bride former signals WREN from Greenock) who we have visited on numerous occasions - I went to search for the light in 2005. When we got there I was astonished to see it had been reloctaed about half a mile Inland as in the painting it was on the shoreline. I think it was the tallest light in US but I may be wrong.
