MARGO so glad to hear your sister had a better night. A relief for all of you I am sure.
Well we've just booked 2 holidays to Nethybridge next year. I always think it's good to plan and have something to look forward to. The first one is at the end of April so hopefully there will be lots of bird activity with spring well under way. 'Our' birds should be back and settled and I'd love to see some sky dancing from Odin showing off.
The next is believe it or not in November. We went at that time last year as the cottage is remote and we can escape most of the fireworks for Mia. would have gone this year too but with work as it's been I couldn't.
Anyway I am shattered. OH is out with Mia visiting his brother so I'm off to bed with a hot water bottle to watch Autumnwatch but to be honest don't think I will be awake for long...
Me too. Millky drink ready and off to bed to watch the 2nd part of Banks. Reading my way through his books at the moment, 2 on order from the local library. Think I will catch up with "Autumnwatch tomorrow. Not sure whether to catch up with "Frozen Planet" Friend said she laughed and cried but also said there were bits she couldn't tell me about as they were so upsetting. I like to bury my head in the sand, I know animals have to kill to eat, but still find it difficult to watch
Hello folks. Just a quick post as I've had a busy day and am off competing in Dog Obedience tomorrow, with Fly. We had a beautiful day today with lots of sunshine and warm if you were out of the wind. Dogs and I had a longer walk than we've had for some time - had the woodland to ourselves. i have a pile of ironing waiting for me but I put it out of my mind!
Margo So glad your sister's pain relief seems to be working and that your BiL is more relaxed. Hope things will continue to be a little less ddistressing.
dibnlib A year since you broke your leg! Doesn't seem that long, though I'm sure it seemed interminable to you at the time. Interesting that you have stayed in Creebridge House Hotel. We've stayed a couple of times and found everyone really kind and helpful, especially as we, too, had dogs with us (3 collies). It's in such a beautiful area too. The only time I've seen a barn owl was driving up from the Solway coast towards the A75, late afternoon, as we returned to the hotel. For you and Annette did you know that Felix Mendelssohn was apparently very seasick on his trip to Staffa? Don't know how he managed to write such a beautiful piece of music after that!
Trish2 Lucky you, planning 2 holidays in Nethy next year. I'll have to try to persuade my OH to go for respite care to let me have the chance of a week in our favourite house. i can understand your planning to have Mia in a remote spot for Guy Fawkes Night - fireworks in NI are for Halloween so we're starting to hear them now. Our local police have done a great job of rounding up illegal fireworks and so far it has been reasonably quiet but the weekend (or Monday, the 'big day') will be noisy and some or all of my dogs will be upset.
Evening all: Was all ready to settle down and watch telly; grabbed coffee maker to fill up and set it up for morning but managed to knock it against the countertop and shattered the carafe. Aaack! Have now cleaned up mess and improvised coffee fixings for the morning, but oh dear, have just had a quick look online at news ones and gosh, some of them do everything but the ironing. Think maybe we'll just replace the carafe, even though OH doesn't like the cofeemaker we have.
dibnlib: Your trip to Fingal's Cave sounds magical with the impromptu concert. How lovely; lucky you.
Trish2: Hope you had a good night's sleep; smart to get your Nethy visits organized. April is only five months away (which isn't bad if you say it quickly!).
patriciat: Good luck with Fly tomorrow. Did not know that Felix M got seasick - as you say, the cave must reallly have been inspiring after that!
Daughter and I are going to have lunch with g'son tomorrow; he's been busy with work and school so it'll be nice to see him.
Take care all and have a good Saturday.

JULIE - I did SO enjoy the video
I do hope everyone is well. I'm doing a lot more lurking at the moment taking time to do other things etc. Been watching a lot of Osp videos though :) Thinking of you all.
And you MARGO>
For those about to go on holiday - have a great great time.
Thank you to all for the lovely photos.
Off for a hike later, as usual.
Don't forget to put your clocks back :)
and ........................ I've never stopped feeding my birds , just slowed down. I'm so longing to see a Blackbird again ! Haven't seen one in months
Morning, Everyone: A beautiful red sky this morning as we hauled ourselves out of bed at 7.30 ish (went back to bed for half an hour with a cup of tea!) Yesterday it made its mind up and was bright, eventually, which made all the trees look so lovely - I do love the Autumn colours.
Sandra: Cute pic of the little Owlets huddled up together!
Trish: Lovely to have 2 holidays booked - I sometimes think the anticipation is nearly as good as actually going. I too, would give my left arm to see Odin doing his sky dancing.
dibnlib: Fingals Cave was on TV not long ago - can't remember which prog. it was. I've always thought it was a great name to choose for your dog. A great pic of your Dillon with his little friend!
AQ Sad about the broken beaked magpies. At least you have done what you can.
Annette: Sorry about the coffee maker - how annoying! It makes you sad and angry at the same time that folks can be so cruel to their animals. Wish there was a way to stop this kind of thing.
patriciat: Good Luck to you and Fly - and have an enjoyable day at the competition.
Cirrus: Hope you have a grand day out hiking.
margo: Good that your sister is now more comfortable, and at home: her husband seems to be coping, too. Our thoughts are with you, as always.
I'm off shopping now as have to make 2 quiches to take to the Christening tomorrow - we are all 'mucking in' with the buffet for afterwards, which should be enjoyable as there are only to be about 15 of us.
9:56am our time this morning.
Mother watching her two babies. She is such a beautiful Eagle Owl.
Right, see you all soon.
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Just quick good morning to all, OH is on his way back from shopping much earlier than usual. Thank you all for your kind thoughts, chat and pics. Just one mention for Lindybird, hope all goes well for Christening tomorrow on what is a very special day for Tomasz. Take care all andhave a good weekend.
