Continuing on from the Osprey Chat thread for September 2011.

I am doing this in Google Chrome, as I had a problem with Firefox and doing posh links on another thread. OH updated Firefox....mumble mumble!
I have just come across this snippet from a 2008 Radio 4 World on the Move programme. It gives an interesting fact on migration, and female osprey, about which I had absolutely no idea. Apparently female osprey absorb the reproductive organs prior to migration to save a 'few ounces' for the flight. The busy mating period when they first meet again in the spring encourages the regrowth of those organs and egg laying starts a couple of weeks later.
Edit: well, at least that works!
