In response to the demand for an osprey chat thread I am now making one for September 2011. I guess there will be quite a bit to chat about given the success of the extension thread.
Tiger Signature
Although Tore and Bynack haven't moved, it's good to know that they are safe. :o) If you zoom in on GE, you can see that they have favourite places to roost.
To say thanks to TBoLurve for changing his pic to a moth, here are a couple for you to look at.
Elephant Hawkmoth
Lime Hawkmoth
(I'm better at butterflies)
Loch Garten stats. and All the important links for LG.
A very few years ago I had a Tom Thumb fuchsia that fed 5 elephant hawk moths over the summer but sadly I never got to see them emerge and fly
Couldn't sort the end of all the route lines sigh.
Cirrus.
I had quite a few on my fuchias too, quite big things. I never got to see them change and fly either
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
Lovely moff pics, MOFFER :-)
IMAGICAT
Hi Moffer, thanks for those moffy pics..they are beautiful :-)
Hi all, just checking in, which has been difficult over the past two weeks. I don't how you all keep up!!
Hi Moffer, Cirrus - yes I meant to say it was EJ.
Lowry, tBoL - Richard described it as a fisherman's holiday when I saw him.
Fantatic photos everyone. Glad to see the Garten tweens are flourishing. Thinking about it it makes sense that they get the urge, or are forced to move off the nest, but then find a spot where they can find their footing and explore their independence before being ready for the long haul. Do hope Bynack self-directs SW though, to minimize a long trip over the Med and Sahara.
Keep posting!
Moffer the moffy :)
Of course when the season change is felt in the Highlands even in southern England or France summer is still in season; so they can go just far enough to extend that warmth.. Wish I could do that.
