In response to the demand for an osprey chat thread I am now making one for September 2011. I guess there will be quite a bit to chat about given the success of the extension thread.
Tiger Signature
My first year of watching and darling dashing Deshar was the love of many...on that route we all prayed for a left turn here or a right turn there and he would have made land..still in my memory. I think perhaps Gloucester Birder might have got a pic of him on his stopover in the south...~
Yes there was picture of Deshar on his stopover. I have seen people using it as their avatar.
I used it as my avatar Tiger, but I was on a quiz forum then but I think I read all the news here...
Just been listening to this recording of Roy Dennis on Radio 4 World on the Move (October, 2008), talking about Nimrod's amazing flight of 2300km from La Rochelle, France to N Africa in 35hours. We were talking somewhere about ospreys flying at night, which is what Nimrod did here...across the whole of Spain by bright moonlight, which of course must make a huge difference. Nevertheless, quite a feat! I remember following this migration in utter amazement.
ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
Hazel b said: Nearly there 20.05 - GREAT NEWS - Einion is just seven miles from the northern Spanish coast. He'll be able to see and smell land from here, fantastic! The data will stop again soon for another two days but hopefully we'll get one more data position before that happens, hopefully on Spanish soil. Excellent news - more as we get it, Ems

I've joined the 21st Century and joined Facebook and put Dyfi as a favourite, so if I miss anything, they post it on my page. How clever!!!
